St Michael And All Angels Catholic Primary School

Autumn Term 2

Week 7

What a busy week we have had in class 1!

We performed in our 'Wriggly Nativity' and we were amazing!

This week we have had our Christmas dinner, Christmas jumper day and of course our Christmas parties today.

All the children have worked extremely hard this year and all deserve a rest and some lovely time spent with loved ones.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone for their support during my time at St Michael and All Angels, I will miss all the children dearly. The children here are the most polite, caring and loving children I have ever had the privilege of teaching and I wish each and every one of them huge amounts of happiness and success in their futures.

A huge thank you to all the parents who have sent cards and bought presents for Mrs Cowling and I, we are very grateful.

A very merry Christmas to you all x

Week 5 & 6

In Class 1 we have begun the countdown to Christmas! We have written our letters to Santa and have been practising our nativity with Class 2. Over the last couple of weeks we have been making things for our school Christmas Fayre and they looked fantastic on our stall.  Thank you to everyone that came and bought out things, it was a great success.

We went on a trip to Barnsley College to watch the 'Jack and the Beans Talk!' pantomime... it was so much fun! All of the children were very well behaved and found the show hilarious, especially when we got squirted with water!

Week 4

This week we have started our new topic 'Will you read me a story?'.  On Thursday we had a big surprise, a special visitor came to meet us.

It was Rapunzel! She told us her story and sang songs with us.  We loved meeting her and asked her lots of questions.

In school we learnt about Judaism and made Menorahs.

Week 3

This week has been World Nursery Rhyme week and in class 1 we have learnt a new rhyme each day.  We had lots of fun making 5 currant buns and painting pictures, making starfish and other things related to 'A sailor went to sea'.

We have finally finished decorating our salt dough hearts that we are going to give to the special people in our lives.

In maths we have been learning about addition and subtraction using a number line... we have found it a little tricky but we're getting much more confident!

Week 2

This week in school it has been Anti-Bullying Week and therefore we spent time this week thinking about how we treat others and how that may make people feel.  On Monday we came to school in odd socks and joined in the fun of Odd Socks day.  The children have learnt about bullying and cyber-bullying and what they should do if they ever experience or witness anything like this.

On Friday we celebrated Children in Need by coming to school in non-uniform.  The children were very interested to learn about some children who have been helped by Children in Need and we looked at a very funny story about Pudsey bear.

Thank you to everyone who came in non-uniform and donated 50p.

Week 1

In Class 1 this week we have been learning about bonfire night and fireworks.

We collected wood and built our own bonfire and pretended to roast marshmallows.  Later in the week, after we had spent time learning about fire safety, Mr Bamforth lit a real fire for us and explained how fire can be useful.  We roasted marshmallows for real and they were delicious!

We made salt dough and moulded them into love hearts that we will be giving to the special people in our lives... when we have decorated them!

In Music we have learned about pitch, singing I'm a little teapot using different voices.

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
