Happy Easter everyone! This week has been all about the Easter story and looking at the key events during Holy Week. We enjoyed acting out when Jesus arrived in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and how Jesus washed the feet of the disciples. We also spent lots of time making our beautiful Easter cards using oil pastels. The children leant the technique of blending the pastels together to make vibrant colours and the end result was very effective. Well done to all the children in class 1 who entered the 'decorate an egg' competition, they were all eggcellent!
The week finished with a visit from the Easter bunny who left every child an egg in their lovely Easter baskets. Well done class 1 on another amazing term together and have a fantastic holiday.
In literacy this week we have been looking at fiction and non-fiction books and looking at the features of each. Then we have arranged facts using sub-headings and illustrated our work. In maths we have been looking at multiplication and using 'lots of' to count in 2s and 10s.
For RE work this week we have thought about a positive change that we can make during lent, lots of us have decided that we could be more helpful at home and help others more.
This week Class 1 worked hard to deliver an amazing class assembly. Our Moon zoom assembly was amazing. We had narrators, dancing and a bit of acting thrown in for good measure.
We have focused on addition and subtraction this week in maths and have continued to practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
In topic we used the mini ipads to draw, edit and finalise an alien picture- there were some very strange looking aliens
Week 2 & 3
During week 2 at school we had 3 days off due to the snow!
In week 3 our favourite event was World Book Day. The children (and teachers) came dressed as their favourite book character. Classes in school then carried out some some literacy activities related to that teachers character. In Class 1 Mrs Jones came dressed as The Highway Rat. We made wanted posters, wrote character descriptions and made up our own song with actions that we performed in our World Book Day assembly. Thank you to all the parents that made and bought costumes, we really did have an amazing day.
Take a look at the pictures of our fantastic outfits.
This week has seen some strange goings on in class 1...
A loud noise was heard outside and Class 1 went to investigate. When we went outside we found what appeared to be a crashed spaceship! We looked all around but we couldn't find any aliens- strangely everything was covered in what we decided was 'ectoplasm'. We will keep you informed of any further information we receive.
As part of Road Safety Awareness Week we also took part in two assemblies; Teddy takes a tumble and Teddy takes a walk and we now know that we have to listen to the magic click of the seat belt and how to safely walk holding a grown up's hand.
To finish off the week we also celebrated Spanish day in school, we practised saying colours in Spanish and sang and danced to Spanish music.
