Battle of the Bands 2 - the rematch
After their very close and entertaining first battle of the Bands was narrowly won by St. Helens, the rematch is on.
Starting on Thursday 29th March at 3:10 and running throughout the Easter holidays until Monday 9th April at 8:40, Class 5 at St. Helens and St. Michaels will again be competing in a times tables battle of the bands.
The winner will have the most correct times table questions answered over the holidays. With over 65,000 correct answers given over a short 2 day period in the previous battle, high scores are expected.
Good luck to both classes.
As we arrive at the end of another term we begin to think more and more about the "final stretch" as we prepare for our SATs. Class 5 have worked hard this term and I have been incredibly impressed with them, I realise Year 6 is never easy and everyday they turn up ready to rise to the challenge again. Keep it up Class 5 we are almost there.
This week we have been learning all about Holy Week. We have created some brilliant story boards depicting the key scenes of the story as well as preparing our Holy Week assembly.
This week we all became Timetable Rock Stars! We have been using a new programme to create a rock star and learn our times tables. We started out with a case score for how quickly we could answer each question, we then tried to improve this score. We also competed head to head with St Helens to see which class could gather the most points over 2 days.
This week we went on a trip to the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. We had a great time finding out how Manchester was affected by the industrial revolution and how the invention of the steam engine changed many things about the city. We learnt about the lives of Victorians and were especially interested in the children who would have worked in the mills, factories and mines.
This week we had great fun in the snow. We all really enjoyed our 3 snow days!
This week we have finished practising our song in music and were finally ready for our live performance in assembly. Here is our final run through before the performance.
