Addition of Nursery at Schools Consultation

Consultation Statement for the Governing Body of Corpus Christi Federation

Re: Consultation on Proposed Nursery Addition as a Prescribed Alteration

The Governing Body of Corpus Christi Federation is committed to enhancing educational opportunities for our community. We are considering a proposal to add a nursery to two of our schools, which aims to provide quality early years education and care for children aged 3 and 4. This document serves to inform stakeholders and invite feedback as part of the Prescribed Alterations Statutory Process.

Rationale for the Proposal: The introduction of a nursery at St Helens in Hoyland and St Michael and All Angels in Wombwell, is intended to:

  • Support the transition of children into full-time education.
  • Address local demand for early years provision.
  • Provide a cohesive educational pathway from nursery through to primary education.
  • Enhance community engagement and partnerships.

Details of the Proposed Alterations:

  • Location: The nursery will be located within the existing school grounds, utilising existing space, under consultation with Local Authority representatives
  • Capacity: The nursery will cater to 26 children, operating full time, flexible provision
  • Staffing: We plan to employ qualified early years practitioners to ensure high-quality education and care.

Consultation Process: We invite all stakeholders, including parents, staff, local residents, local authority and community organisations, to share their views on this proposal. The consultation period will run from 21 October to 1 December 2024.

How to Provide Feedback: Feedback can be submitted through:

  • Attendance at our consultation meetings, where you can discuss the proposal and ask questions:
    •  Wednesday 20th November 2024, 1pm, at St Helens CPS
    • Thursday 21st November 2024, 1pm, at St Michaels CPS
  • Emailing the schools at:

Next Steps: Following the consultation period, the Local Authority will review all feedback and consider it before making a final decision. If any referral is necessary following this, it will go to Hallam Diocese for a decision. If implementation is approved, the schools will work towards nursery provision being available at the earliest opportunity, pending any works necessary.

We appreciate your participation in this important process and look forward to your feedback.
