Autumn 1

This week we have brought to a close our topic work on Memory Box.

The children have enjoyed a range of activities learning about the body, the senses and finally, The Great Fire Of London.

This week the children invited parents into school to help us build a Tudor London. We showed amazing skills of team work, risk taking, resilience and trial and error but most important of all, we had a great time. A big thank you to all the parents, carers, grandparents, aunties and uncles who joined us on Monday. We will be burning our masterpiece down during the first few weeks of the next half term, parents and carers will be very welcome to join us and we will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible.

Next half term we shall be working on the topic 'Muck. Mess and Mixture' and as the title suggests we are going to be getting very messy! It would be very much appreciated if the children could have an old t-shirt in their PE bags during the first week after the holidays so we can use or enquiry skills and do what we do best, get dirty!

On Friday 7th October Class 2 spent the day with our Federation friends at Eureka in Halifax. We had a wonderful day consolidating our learning about the body, our senses and how we grow. The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and we made many special memories.

Billy's favourite bit was, "The giant teeth, we went in the mouth!"

Jack's favourite bit was, "Talking to the robot, it talked back to you!"

Yvie enjoyed, "The whole day, it was so exciting".

Of course all the children enjoyed their lunch in the café even after wanting to eat it on the coach on the way there!

We had a wonderful day, please take a look at our best bits.

The end of another wonderful week in Class 2.

This week we have enjoyed learning how to tell the time to o'clock, half past, quarter to and past. We know how when our dinner is going to be ready everyday!

As part of our topic this week we have looked at our different senses, particularly the sense of sight. In P.E we used blindfolds to experience carrying out activities without our sight. We found this tricky and exciting at the same time!

We have had a wonderful trip to Eureka today. The children were fantastic, as always. Thank you children you have been a credit to yourselves and our school.

We will post our Eureka photos on Monday when we have shared them together.

Another action packed week in Class 2!

In writing, this week we have focussed on descriptive language and using adjectives. We helped the police to capture 'The Big Bad Wolf' by creating a wanted poster using adjectives to describe the Wolfs appearance and personal characteristics.

We used drama to act out the story, and get into role as the characters we were thinking about.

In Maths, we have thought about Money and used our knowledge of coins to help us to pay different items in our role play shop.

Don't forget our Federation Trip to Eureka next Friday!

We have had a very exciting and busy week in Class 2!

In PE we practised different ways of travelling before playing a game of 'Shark Attack'. We avoided by being eaten by the shark by travelling in different ways to the 'safe' hoops. We used the hall to practise different ways of moving and balancing in high and low positions.

In writing we have started looking at different word classes and used Drama to help us to understand verbs.

In Maths we have been looking at Addition. We investigated different number bonds by using objects and interactive games.

As part of our topic learning, we had a special visitor. Baby Edie came to school to help us understand how much we grow. Edie is 7 months old, we looked at all the different things Edie has learnt to do since she was born. She even showed us how she has learnt to crawl!

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
