Week 5

Christmas Enterprise Design and Technology - We have been working really hard this week to create items for our class stall at the Christmas Fayre. We enjoyed developing our design and technology skills and knowledge whilst making lots of lovely Christmas gifts.

Theatre Visit - Our whole school went to watch the 'Beauty and the Beast' panto at the Cast Theatre in Doncaster. It gave us some brilliant ideas for our very own school panto next week!

Week 4

In Computing we are becoming more familiar with the set up and layout of a keyboard. This week we began to explore the basics of touch typing and used a website called 'Typing Club'. Click on the link below to practice your touch typing skills:

Week 3

St Pius Technology Day

Year 5 visited St. Pius School this week for an amazing 'Technology Day'. We had great fun learning how to use a CAD programme to create personalised gift  boxes. We then made Christmas themed chocolate moulds and made chocolates to put in our boxes. Finally, we went to the food technology rooms to bake Christmas biscuits. What a fantastic day!

Week 2

Reading Cafe - Our parents and carers joined us at the new St. Michaels reading cafe 'Starbooks'. We enjoyed a 5 course tasting menu of new and classic books (including seasonal specials) and made our own tasting notes. All of the books that we sampled are available at our local libraries. If you are not a member of your local library, you can click on the link below to join.

Literacy - This week we have been learning about different types of nouns. We played noun bingo and spot the noun, but our favourite activity was definitely noun snap! We are all looking forward to playing noun snap at home too, as part of our homework this week.

Week 1

Wow! What a busy first week of Autumn Term 2!

Here's a few highlights...

Festivals - This week we learnt about two festivals that take place at this time of year. In Spanish, we leant about Mexico and' The Day of the Dead'. In RE, we learnt about Diwali which is also known as 'The Festival of Lights'. During a dance workshop, we choreographed movements in order to tell the story of Rama and Sita through dance. What a great way to learn about such a fabulous festival!

Maths - We are really enjoying finding new and fun ways to learn and practice our times-tables. This week we played 'Connect 4' with a times-tables twist!

Remembrance Day - We were honoured to lead an assembly about Remembrance day. We sang songs and hymns, shared poems and prayed together. We also showcased some of our artwork, which was inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe's 'Poppies'.

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
