Autumn Term 1

Please find attached our Medium Term Plan for Autumn 1

Week 7

This week our focus for literacy in Miss Mason and Mrs Armstrong's group has been the traditional tale - The Gingerbread man

We have read the story; performed it with puppets; learnt how to make gingerbread men, and written a set of instructions. The whole class has enjoyed testing our gingerbread, and we all agree it is delicious!

Week 6

We continued with our artwork this week and this lesson was all about printing techniques. We used printing ink and rollers to roll ink onto a wooden structure. We then transferred this onto our fiery backdrops to create a print. We now have our finished pieces and we think that they look great! smiley

Week 5

This week we have prepared and led the School Harvest Assembly. The children all sang and spoke beautifully. You can enjoy our performance of Cauliflowers Fluffy here!

Week 4

In Maths this week we are learning to compare numbers using the language: less than, greater than and equal to. We watched a fun video called 'Number Gators' to help to introduce this concept. Here is the video if you would like to enjoy watching it at home! smiley

In Science we are learning all about seasonal changes. This week we focused on Winter. We discussed what we might see in Winter such as bare trees, icy paths and sometimes snow! We also talked about ways in which we can keep ourselves warm as the temperature stats to fall such as wearing appropriate clothing and eating nice warm food... maybe even the odd hot chocolate on extra cold days! wink

To demonstrate our learning all about Winter, we used our DT skills to fold and cut paper to create our very own icicles. Did you know... no 2 icicles are exactly the same, just like us!

Week 3

The children were so excited on Tuesday when they realised it was time for more Art... which meant more messy painting fun! smiley

This week we focused on colour mixing. We discussed our 3 primary colours; blue, red and yellow and how we can use combinations of these to make our 3 secondary colours purple, orange and green. We experimented with the colour green and tried adding more yellow/blue to make lighter/darker shades.

Week 2

We have kickstarted our new art topic with some printing today. We used Legobricks and the 3 primary colours to explore printing techniques. Lots of the children decided to create patterns which was really great to see.

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
