Spring Term 1
Week 3
This week in Class 1 we have been looking at things that float and sink or are heavy and light. We have been exploring pouring and filling in the water tray with various sized jugs and containers. We have been finding out what different materials sink and float and how we can use some materials to help things that sink float.
As part of our topic we explored how we can change a ramp to make our cars go faster. We used different materials to change the texture of the ramp.
We have also been reading some new books linked to our topic. Our favourite this week has to be 'The Great Balloon Hullabaloo' by Peter Bently. It made us all giggle!
Week 2
This week we have learning about cold places and winter as part of our topic. We have looked at different animals that live in cold places. We have learnt about hot and cold colours as part of our art lessons and we have been using shading to mix dark and light colours. In Maths we have been learning to count in 2s, 5s and 10s as well as learning our number bonds to 10. In science we have been thinking about things that melt and we experimented by melting chocolate!
Week 1
Welcome back after the Christmas break. This week Class 1 have been settling back into their routine. We have been learning the story 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff' as part of our Talk for Writing. In Maths, we have been using number lines to add to 20.
