Holy Week: Class 2's Palm Sunday Assembly

This Monday, Class 2 started Holy Week in St Helen's. Our assembly was on Palm Sunday and Class 2 beautiful retold the story from the Bible on the events of Palm Sunday then, retelling it as a conversation between a modern-day superstar and Jesus. We sang songs relating to Palm Sunday including the song Cloaks and Branches and said our own bidding prayers.

Well done Class 2 on a beautiful assembly and thank you to Class 1 for assisting us with the singing!

Have a wonderful holiday and well deserved rest over the Easter break Class 2,

Week 6

On Monday,27th March 2023, Class 2 went on a school trip to Worsbrough Mill. We completed a pre-visit activity, the Mill Mouse workshop and a Nature Trail on our trip.

Pre-Visit Activity

Before our visit, Class 2 learnt about Worsbrough Mill and listened to the Mill Mouse story. They then created a poster for the mill, answering one of the following questions; What do we use to make flour? Which foods which can be made using flour?

The Mill Mouse Workshop

In our workshop, we explored the journey of grain to flour, following the story of The Mill Mouse. We watched a demonstration of a quern stone grinding wheat.

Class 2 took part in tour around the mill, exploring the key points in the process of making flour.  Then, we completed activities, to reinforce learning, including the opportunity to use the quern stone.

Worsbrough Mill Nature Trail

The Old Mill has been dated back to 1625, making the mill nearly 400 years old. The whole area surrounding Worsbrough Mill was full of surprises, a place of natural beauty attracting many interesting birds and wonderful wildlife. We followed the path around the reservoir and spotted wildlife using binoculars, our nature trail worksheet and bird book.

Well done Class 2 on your beautiful behaviour and on the knowledge you have gained at Worsbrough Mill!
