Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School

Spring 2

Week 4

In Re this week we have heard the story about Palm Sunday. We retold the story by sequencing pictures and made palm leaves.

In Literacy we have continued to think about adjectives to describe characters and begin to write our own sentences. We watched a short film called Partly Cloudy to inspire our character descriptions.

Week 3

This week we made cards for Mothers day and had World Book Day! Across the whole school we all shared the same book: "Here we are" by Oliver Jeffers. It is a wonderful story about kindness and how we must love and take care of our world. The children came up with so many ways in which we can help to make our world a better place by looking after the people, animals and everything on earth. They did some collaborative art work and produced some beautiful collages of themselves and all the people of the world.

Week 2

This week our class story was "The Rainbow Fish" by Marcus Pfister. This is a story about friendship and how we can share the things that are most important to us with others which brings us happiness. We have been talking about how we can make others feel loved when we share kind words and play nicely with one another.

In maths we have worked on subtraction and counting backwards.

In Geography we have been learning our addresses and about the places we live. We know that Barnsley is a town and can talk about some of the landmarks that we recognise.

Week 1

The children have all been back in school and busy this week. We have been investigating how wheels and axels work in DT, learning our addresses in Geography and learning some new poems from our Poetry Basket. In PE we have been thinking about fitness and how exercise can help to make us feel happy smiley

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
