Autumn Term 2

Week 7

This week we performed our nativity "A Bundle of Joy" to our parents. We have worked really hard over the last few weeks, learning the songs, practising words and actions. The children performed really well and brought lots of joy to their families!

The Class 2 staff team want to wish children and parents a very Happy Christmas!

Week 6

What a beautiful day for our Rudolph Run! The sun shone and melted the frost on the grass as we walked and ran 5 (or more) laps of the school field.

Week 5

This week we have been learning about Advent in RE. We have made an Advent wreath and learnt about the symbolism of the different parts.

We have also learnt about the angel visiting Mary to tell her that she was going to have a very special baby!

Week 4

Year 2s have done lots of work this week on adding and subtracting 2 digit numbers. We always start by doing calculations practically, then we draw the calculations before learning formal methods. This helps us to have a really good understanding of what we are doing.

We've all had a busy week as we start to prepare for various Christmas activities. We are very excited about our Nativity which we will be performing to parents, and we have made some stars to sell at the Christmas Fayre next week. You can see them hanging from our classroom windows!

Week 3

Parent Afternoon

Thank you so much to all of you who managed to attend our parent afternoon on Tuesday. It was so lovely to be able to welcome you all into the classroom again, it seems so long ago that we were able to do this! I know that the children really enjoyed having you with us too. Our fantastic Christmas Owl decorations will be on sale at our upcoming Christmas Fair.

Superstar Writing

A special mention to some of our children who have been working so hard in their Literacy group to create these wonderful wanted posters! We are so proud of you smiley

Week 2

This week we wrapped up our Art topic with an artist spotlight session. We explored the work of Louis Wain who was an English artist best known for his drawings, which consistently featured large-eyed cats and kittens.

We talked about how artists try to tell stories through their paintings and drawings. We worked in small groups to predict what story we think Louis was trying to portray through his picture Katzenclub.

Week 1

This week we have started our new geography project on Continents and Oceans. We are asking the question "How can we care for the planet?"

Today we have learnt about the North and South Poles, the Equator and the United Kingdom. We have put together a jigsaw of the different countries in the UK. We have enjoyed using a globe and looking at Google Earth.

Please find attached our Medium Term Plan for Autumn 2.

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
