Class 3

Welcome to Class 3

 

Class 3 is a mixed class of both year 3 and year 4 pupils. We are a busy class of eager learners and our classroom is always buzzing with new and exciting activities and challenges.

 

What does your child need every day?

  • Full and correct school uniform - please see the school uniform policy.
  • Book bag - remember to check it every night for letters.
  • Reading Book - this will be changed each week.
  • Reading Diary - your child will be rewarded for reading at home on a regular basis.
  • PE Kit should be brought to school on a Monday and taken home on a Friday. (Earrings must be removed for PE sessions).
  • Water Bottle. (Water only please - we are a healthy school).

 

Homework will go out every Wednesday and is expected to be returned on the following Monday. Homework will include times tables practice using TTRS, 20 minutes reading each day, a Literacy challenge and a Maths challenge.

Long Term Plan

 

Throughout the year, Class 3 will explore and experience an array of texts, skills, investigations and research to further children's knowledge and understanding across the curriculum. The above document shares current planning information for the 2022/2023 academic year. 

Medium Term Planning

 

The above document shares areas of the curriculum that Class 3 will study throughout Summer 2.

 

Literacy: In Literacy, we will be developing our reading and writing skills linked to our class book Lights on Cotton Rock, focusing specifically on discussion texts, non chronological reports and poetry.

 

Maths: Our topics in Maths are time, shape, angles and symmetry. 

 

Geography: Class 3 will explore the physical features of the United Kingdom this half term. Children will also complete fieldwork within the local area. 

 

Science: This term we are learning about Properties and Changes of Materials. 

 

RE: Our topics this half term are Building Bridges and God's People. 

 

Design and Technology: Children will explore textiles this half term, designing, making and evaluating a cushion.

 

Computing: Our focus in computing will be around graphing. 

 

Music: This half term, children will experience an external music teacher when learning to play the recorder. Children will experience an array of high-quality music and engage in both solo and ensemble contexts.
