Summer Term 2

Week 6

Class 3 have worked incredibly hard this year, I am incredibly proud of everyone for their fantastic effort, determination and resilience!

This week, children have completed reading The Legend of Spud Murphy. Children have written their very own book review sharing their thoughts and opinions of the text.

Children have used Will and Marty’s ideas from the book The Legend of Spud Murphy to create a plan of how to sneak a book out of the library without the librarian knowing. The children were very creative and enthusiastic during this task.

In Maths, Class 3 have explored 2D shapes, measure and drawing accurately this week throughout Design and Technology. Children have applied essential maths skills throughout their DT work to complete their very own cushion during textiles.

In Science, children explored reversible and irreversible changes such as boiling an egg, making toast and melting an ice cube. Children discussed and explored whether this state of matter could then be changed back to its original state or not.

Well done Class 3, you have worked very hard this week.

Have a lovely summer holidays, filled with lots of fun and positive memories.

In Literacy this week, children have researched facts about Goldthorpe to create a 1-page profile. This links with our current Geography focus and will contribute to a non-chronological report about our local area.

In Maths, Class 3 have explored 2D and 3D shapes, along with symmetry both inside and outside of a shape. Y4 children have also revisited regular and irregular quadrilaterals.

In PE this week, children have continued to explore the essential skills required in order to play rounders. Children have explored a variation of throwing techniques, along with practicing running bases.

In Science, children explored reversible and irreversible changes. Children used their prior knowledge of states of matter to discuss how the properties of a material or object may change when exposed to heating or cooling.

Well done Class 3, you have worked very hard this week.

Week 3

Class 3 have worked incredibly hard this week, well done!

This week, children have explored The Legend of Spud Murphy. Children have read chapter 3, along with accessing VIPERS skills daily to further comprehension.

In Maths, Class 3 have explored lines of symmetry both inside and outside of a shape, along with regular and irregular polygons, studying vertices, edges and faces.

In Geography this week, children have further compared the physical features of the United Kingdom to those within Europe, along with landmarks, population, vegetation and climate.

In Design and Technology this week, children have started applying their skill of cross stitch within small groups to create a cushion during our textiles module.
