Week 7
Science week this week and we have been working scientifically on some of the Cornerstones "Love to Investigate" projects. We did the projects "What can our hands do?" where we did a series of activities to discover what we can do with our sense of touch, and "What can you remember?" where we tested our memories and investigated a strategy that will help us remember more information.
We had a wonderful parent session of "fun & games" on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you to all of you who joined us and for your very positive feedback. The class picnic blanket looks fabulous and will look a treat when we take it to Cusworth hall on our trip next month 😃
Week 6
As we looked forward to the royal wedding this week we have been finding out about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. We have written invitations, made fact files and flags and designed wedding cakes. On Friday we wore red, white and blue and had a special wedding lunch 👑🤵🏼👰🏽🇬🇧
Week 5
Our story this week was "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds. We did some fantastic writing and artwork inspired by this book.
In maths we have started division. We know that when we divide we share and to make it fair each group needs the same. We used lots of apparatus to help us share and even shared the children in Class 1!
Week 4
This week we have enjoyed lots of activities around the Tour de Yorkshire. We even came to school on our bikes and did our very own "Tour de Sacred Heart"😃🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻🚴🏻♀️🚴🏻
Week 3
In literacy we have read the story "Aliens Love Underpants" which was great fun! We have been learning how to write sentences using because (and how to spell it!)
In maths we have been doubling and halving.
Week 2
We have loved reading "Whatever Next" by Jill Murphy. We have been learning when to use exclamation marks to make our writing more exciting. We have sequenced pictures from the story, re-written the story and written a diary from Baby Bear's trip to the moon.
In Maths we have been taking away/subtracting/counting back. We know how to use a number line to take away.
Outside we have been making our own super rockets to travel to the moon!🚀
Week 1
Welcome back to school for our summer term. I hope you all had a lovely Easter 🐣
This week has been all about "BEEGU" - a wonderful story about a little alien who finds herself lost on earth. She is lonely and sad as she misses her family and has no friends. We have had some absolutely fantastic writing from the children this week as they wrote about Beegu's feelings and what they thought she might be saying or thinking. They made models and speech bubbles to tell the story.
In maths we have been looking at number bonds for 10, 20 and some children for 100!! Ask your child if they have completed a chilli challenge?! 🌶🌶🌶
