Week 6
Transition days went well this week as we welcomed many new children into Class 1 and some to Sacred Heart for their very first time. Staying for school dinner on Wednesday was a highlight!
It has been a truly wonderful year in Class 1 this year. The children have worked so hard and so well as a class and showed so much kindness and love towards one another. I have thoroughly enjoyed our year together❤️
Week 5
It was our Enchanted Woodland Parent Topic Session on Monday afternoon. Lots of our grown ups joined us and helped to make Fairy Doors, Toadstool Tealights, Magic Glitter, colouring and book sharing. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all.
Week 4
This week we had our Sports Day. It was a fabulous event organised by our wonderful Mr. Johnson. All the children showed off their skills and teamwork.
In maths we have been learning about shapes and finding them in the world around us. The names of some 3D shapes have been quite tricky to learn but we now know lots including: cube, cuboid, sphere, cylinder, square-based pyramid, triangular-based pyramid, triangular prism and cone. Keep an eye out for shapes when you are out and about. Below are links to some shape songs.

Week 3
Our Enchanted Woodland Day was wonderful!!! The children have loved their forest school activities. Everybody made a woodland crown, a magic wand, some mud-fairy cakes, a clay tree boggart and a woodland den for Sneezy the Dragon! Mr Bamforth came in to help and took is into the nature area to make a fire! All the children melted marshmallows and made s'mores which were very yummy and very sticky! They should all sleep well tonight!
Week 2
On Monday we went to Barnsley Civic to see Music in the Round's production of "Giddy Goat" with Ensemble 360. The children loved the instruments and joining in with all the actions and songs. It really was a wonderful experience. The writing and drawings that they have done this week are fabulous.
On Friday it was our annual Federation sports day at The English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. It was an extremely action packed day which included the following events: kurling, Zumba, sprinting, jumping, rugby, tennis, basketball, relay, taekwando, javelin, problem solving and parachute games!!!
Week 1
It was so lovely to see all the children looking so happy to be back at school this week after our two week break😃
We have been reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar 🐛 in literacy and the children have re-written the story and made lists. We have learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly and now know lots of interesting facts.
In Maths we have been doing lots of problem solving involving doubling, halving and sharing.
We are loving our small world fairy garden where we can make up our own enchanted woodland adventures.
Our Come and See topic is Reconciliation. We have been thinking about what it really means to be a good friend and how we can show our friends that we care or that we are sorry. We have been making friendship bracelets for each other out of loom bands.
