Clay Sculptures - In art, we have finally finished our clay sculptures! We used our knowledge from our last science topic to create animal sculptures.
Computing - We have been using the Bee-Bots to learn about programming. Programming the Bee-Bots also helped us to learn about position and direction.
We Love Books - We have read some lovely books this half-term. We put our favourites on the display so that others know which books we recommend.
Week 5
History - The significant person that we have been learning about this week was Matthew Henson. He explored the North Pole and we have been exploring cold places too!
Elmer - Our story this week was Elmer. Sharing this text had led to us exploring colours, and also reading other fiction and non-fiction books about elephants.
Week 4
Maps - We have been creating large maps and thinking about how we can add symbols to create a key.
History - We have been learning about Ibn Battuta, an explorer who travelled across Africa. We have been learning a lot about Africa too.
Week 3
Music - We have been exploring instruments from around the world. Do you know what these percussion instruments are called? We do!
Art - We have started to learn about sculpture as a form of art and this week we have been learning how to confidently use a range of sculpting tools safely.
Week 2
Art - We have been learning different techniques for changing the shape of dough so that we can begin to create sculptures.
Maths - This week, we have been using words like longer/shorter/taller/wider/thinner to compare size. We have been measuring each other, and various other things using standard and non-standard units. It has been a lot of fun!
Week 1
Science - We have been busy spotting the signs of spring this week, and then making a note of all the things we have seen that tell us that spring is finally here!
History - We have really enjoyed visiting our new 'Explorer's Corner' this week. We have used maps, a globe, books and Google Earth to find, and learn about, the countries that were visited by significant explorers.
One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in a diverse and ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
