Spring 2

Week Three - 4th March

This week our story has been Dear Zoo, by Rod Campbell.  We loved the story because the zoo kept on sending the wrong pet.  In circle time, we spoke about the different animals and discussed if we thought they would make a good pet.  We know sharks, tigers and elephant are not good pets to have at home!  We then talked about the different pets we have at home.  Lots of us in Nursery have cats and dogs but, we even have one friend that has a pet snake!

We have moved on with our threading skills this week and have been doing some sewing.  You might have to wait until the weekend before you see our wonderful creations, but we hope you love them as much as we loved creating them.

This week we celebrated World Book Day.  We came to school dressed as one of our favourite book characters or the clothes we feel comfy reading in.  We listened to a new story called "Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth"

Week Two - 26th February

This week our story was "Monkey Puzzle" by Julia Donaldson.  This story has become one of our favourites.  In the story the butterfly doesn't realise the Monkey's Mummy looks like him and they go on an adventure to find her.  It is a wonderful story that we loved listening too over and over again.  We even learnt the song and some of the makaton signs.  Have a listen to them both using the link.

We loved practising our painting skills by painting some of the characters from Monkey Puzzle.  Which animal would you like to paint?

This half term we are focusing on developing our fine motor skills.  We have been practising our threading skills.  We have threaded beads onto the string to create necklaces and bracelets.  These skills will helps us create a special treat for someone special next week.

In Maths, we have continued to compare numbers and groups of objects.  We have learnt about "the same" and can identify when groups of objects have the same amount, even if they are arranged differently.

Week One - 19th February

This week we have started to think about our new topic "Amazing Animals".  We started by listening to different animal sounds and identifying the animal name.  We listened very carefully and managed to guess most of them correctly.  Why not play this game at home too?

Our story this week was, Rumble in the Jungle.  Use the link to listen to the story together.

In Maths, we have been learning to compare quantities of objects.  We have learnt the meaning of the words "more" and "less".  We can now confidently identify which group of objects has more and less and we are beginning to talk about how we know this.  Mrs Blakemore has been very proud of us.

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
