Week 5

 

 

We made it!

 

Well done Class 3 for a fantastic last week, you have shown true resilience this week.

 

 In Maths, Class 3 have explored coordinates, finding the location of animals and ships using the x and y axis on a grid. The children also enjoyed creating their very own version of battleships and using their coordinates knowledge to support their learning and understanding.

 

In Science this week, we have learnt about mighty muscles and their importance. We learnt about the muscles used to complete everyday tasks like walking, running and reading.

 

In Literacy this week, Class 3 made their very own set of instructions on ‘How to Live Forever’. We completed reading our class book and explored key features of instruction writing before creating our very own.

 

In Art, the children have finished their very own artwork inspired by Hockney and Hundertwasser, creating very colourful landscapes.

 

In PSHE, the children have created posters to share their understanding of respect. We thought about how to respect people, animals and the environment.

 

In PE this week, we explored our focus sport of Tennis further, using hand-eye coordination to support our racket and ball control. Children also participated in a Sports Day this week, completing varying activities. Great work!

 

Well done Class 3 for a fantastic year. It has had many ups and downs, but you have shown great determination and resilience throughout. I am very proud! Have a fantastic summer holidays and remember to stay safe.

Week 4

 

 

Well done Class 3 for yet another fantastic week!

 

 In Maths, Class 3 have continued to explore shape and measure. Not only have Class 3 worked hard to complete activities around deducing shape, along with identifying lines of symmetry inside and outside of shapes, we have also used our shape and measure knowledge to make our very own soaps and bath bombs.  

 

In Science this week, we have extended our knowledge further of bone names and explored their functions and purpose this week. Children have learnt about the differing types of joints in the body and where they are located.

 

In Literacy this week, Class 3 have continued writing a setting description about the Chinese Garden within our focus book How to Live Forever. The detail and description shared has been fantastic!

 

In Art, the children have continued creating their very own masterpiece influenced by our focus artists Hockney and Hundertwasser. The children have explored paint brush control and differing painting techniques to support their wonderful creations.

 

In PSHE, the children have discussed the importance of respect, self-respect, respecting others and respecting nature. We shared examples of what this might look like, sharing our own experiences.

Week 3

 

 

This week, Class 3 have worked very hard during assessment week. They have given 100% effort and I am very impressed. Well done!

 

In Literacy, the children have continued reading How to Live Forever. We have designed our own book as an illustrator and used our inference skills to think about characters feelings within the book.

 

 In Maths, Class 3 have continued to explore shape. These skills were definitely present within our Maths assessments this week and children have tried their best to complete questions about area, perimeter along with drawing with accuracy and shape recognition.

 

In Science this week, we have explored the names of bones. We have studied the skeleton and developed our understanding of bone names that we already knew and new vocabulary introduced this week. Class 3 have worked hard to use scientific language during our lessons.

 

In PE this week, the children have developed their understanding further of Tennis when exploring rackets. We have learnt about the names of different parts of the racket and the importance of grip and ball control.

 

In Art, the children have continued creating their very own masterpiece influenced by our focus artists Hockney and Hundertwasser. The children have explored paint brush control and differing painting techniques to support their wonderful creations.

Week 2

 

 

In Guided Reading this week, we have continued reading Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes. This week, we have explored Little Red Riding Hood. The children have furthered their comprehension and inference skills when questioning information from the text.

 

In Literacy, the children have continued reading How to Live Forever. We have looked at similes and noun phrases this week to support our descriptive writing. Our favoured scene from book this week has been Peter exploring the Chinese Garden.

 

 In Maths, Class 3 have worked hard to accurately measure and draw shapes, using rulers to measure in mm and cm. We have also looked at recognising and describing shapes whilst identifying horizontal and vertical lines.

 

In Science this week, we studied different types of skeleton. We have learnt that there are 3 types of skeleton, the endoskeleton, exoskeleton and hydrostatic skeleton. The children can also share differing animals that have each type of skeleton.

 

In PE this week, we have continued learning about the sport Tennis. We continued to master the ready position and practiced our ball control. Working in pairs, children engaged in competitive games to emphasise the importance of bouncing and catching with control.

 

In ICT this week, we have used Purple Mash to complete our very own survey and create our very own graph. This linked nicely to our Maths work this week, as we had to use rulers and accurate measurement to complete our graphs.

Week 1

 

 

In Guided Reading this week, we have started reading a new book ‘Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes’. The children have explored traditional tales and experienced comical twists and turns within these stories, applying their comprehension and retrieval skills daily.

 

In Literacy, the children have been studying our new book How to Live Forever. This week, the children have developed a good understanding of the text and worked on improving our persuasive writing skills.

 

 In Maths, Class 3 have been looking at turns and angles, focusing on right angles and right angle turns this week. We have also worked hard to compare and order acute and obtuse angles.

 

In Science this week, we have launched our new topic of humans and animals. This week, we have learnt about essential nutrition that humans need to survive and the health benefits that many foods have.

 

In PE this week, we have learnt about the sport Tennis. We have tried our best to master the ready position and played competitive games to learn key skills. We have also completed some of our Skipping into Summer Challenge, it was great fun!

 

In ICT this week, we have used Purple Mash to explore graphs and learnt how to create graphs to represent data. The children enjoyed this lesson and created graphs to show information that interested them, such as colours, animals and sports.
