Week 6 w.c 9/10/23

Class 5 had such a fantastic treat this week. We had a cooking on a budget session with thanks to Tesco. We prepared and cooked a chickpea and spinach curry. We were really careful with our chopping and prep and all ate so much of the curry. At one point everyone had spoke about who they would share the curry with at home but unfortunately not much curry made it that far.

Week 5 w.c 2/10/23

This week in Science we were conducting an experiment. We looked at what makes a fair test and what different variables mean which can effect our fair test. Our experiment was "Does the length of wire affect the component in a circuit."

We looked at the brightness of a bulb and noted the changes to the brightness when we kept adding extra wires to the circuit. 

In the end it took 18 wires between the battery and the bulb for the bulb to go out.

Week 4 w.c 25/9/23

It had been a very busy week full of lots of different activities for class 5 this week. On Wednesday we had our first taste of high school life by spending the day at St. Pius. We were able to take part in three amazing lessons Spanish, Maths and Science. In Science we looked at the chemicals of how the colours of fireworks are made and we created these by using bunsen burners. On Friday we were very lucky to have zoo labs to look at some fantastic animals including snakes, scorpions, frogs and millipedes. We also had an amazing Science lesson that day looking at how circuits are made. We experimented with creating our own circuits and adding bulbs, batteries, buzzers and switches. We have had an amazing week.

Week 3 w.c 18/9/23

This week in PE we were focused on our movement as a defender as well as thinking of our passing and movement as an attacker. We all loved our warm up game which made us think about the different ways we can move and loved playing our chase the ball games focused on marking and movement.

Week 2 w.c 11/9/23

Class 5 have had an amazing start to this year and have worked so hard in all areas of the curriculum. In PE we have started our topic on invasion games with a focus on basketball. Today we have been looking at dribbling and protecting the ball. We have had tries and being both the attacker and defender and looked at how we use our body to keep possession of the ball.
