Autumn Term 2

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

A HUGE well done to all of Class 1 for their hard work this term! We have had a fantastic term getting to know each other and learning together. Today we have had a fabulous party day! Thank you to everyone for your support this term! Have a wonderful Christmas and see you all in the new year!

Week 4

This week we have taken the story from last week, 'The Three Little Pigs', and changed it to our very own story, 'The Three Little Penguins'. Here is our final story:

Once upon there were Three Little Penguins.

One day, Mummy penguin said "it's time to build your own houses, but beware of the the Big Bad Whale!".

The first penguin built a house of snowballs.

The second penguin built a house out of icicles.

The third penguin built an igloo.

The Big Bad Whale used his flipper to knock down the house of snowballs and the house of icicles. He couldn't knock down the igloo.

He jumped out of the water and down the chimney and was frozen into ice!

We have also been learning about the artist James Rizzi and creating our own pictures of buildings based on his artwork!

Week 3

This week our story of the week has been 'The Three Little Pigs'. Class 1 love big paper and often most of the class are using big paper to draw their story maps or pictures of their own! We have also read 'The Rainbow Fish' this week as part of our Anti-Bullying Week. In topic we have been looking at our school and the buildings around it. On Wednesday after PE, we went outside for playtime and got caught in a torrential downpour! When we came back inside we talked about the rain - how big is a raindrop? We drew on big pieces of paper how big we thought the raindrops were. Next time it rains, we are going to catch some raindrops to see if our guesses were right!

Week 2

This week our story of the week has been 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. We have been creating story maps and playing with the story puppets we have in class. In our topic work we were learning about the invention of the playground. We couldn't believe that 100 years ago, playgrounds hadn't been invented! We used big paper to design our own playgrounds.

Week 1

Welcome back after the half term break. We hope you have had a lovely week off. This week in Class 1 we have been settling back into class. Our story this week has been Little Red Riding Hood. We have been acting out the story, our performances have been fantastic! In maths we have been working on our numbers to 10 and our Year 1 children have been learning their number bonds to 10. We have also been learning about Remembrance Day and Bon Fire Night.

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
