We started our final week by making some Christmas play Dough! We added different colourings, spices and scents and then guessed what they were before choosing our favourite. We had cinnamon, mixed spice, hot chocolate, gingerbread and peppermint. They made the class room smell very Christmassy. 🎅🏻🤶🏻🎄
We talked about the Nativity story and remembered that Christmas Day is Jesus’ birthday. We made our own nativity scenes and told our own versions of the story.
On Tuesday morning we all went into the big playground to play and had a lot of fun with the playground equipment. Mr Johnson had fun too😂
We had our Federation Advent Mass with Father Declan via Zoom and lit the candles on the Advent wreath in our classroom. The children did very well sitting and listening.
Christmas dinner was delicious and we are all so grateful to Mrs Green and our ladies in the kitchen for making us such wonderful food and making our Christmas dinner at school such a special time for us to share together.
on Thursday we had our Christmas Party which was brilliant! We danced, played games and had a yummy party dinner.
On Friday morning we did our Santa Dash to raise money for Rotherham Hospice. It was so funny seeing all the teachers dressed up like Santa😂🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻We ended our term with our December birthday party. 4 of our children are December babies so it was lovely to celebrate together with party snacks and party games. 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Week 6
This week we wrote our letters to Santa and included our present lists. We talked about the importance of giving love and kindness to others at Christmas time.
On Friday we made our Christingles and talked about what each of the items used represent. We had our own Christingle celebration, sang Christingle hymns and said a special Christingle prayer.
We have made some snow-globe tree decorations and done Christmas yoga. We have a new friend in Class 1. He is a kindness elf who is looking out for people being kind to one another. The children have named him ‘Chippy’😂
Week 5
We have had a wonderful week which began with an online Pantomime kindly organised by Churches Together.
We have been busy with Christmas Crafts making our Christmas cards and calendars and learned some new skills including weaving.
On Tuesday we had our collective worship on the theme of Advent as it was the 1st of December. We are all excited waiting to celebrate Christmas and the birthday of Jesus.
On Friday we enjoyed popcorn and juice whilst watching the grand premiere of our "Nursery Rhyme Showcase". This was so exciting because it was also our Christmas jumper today! We had special photographs taken which we can't wait to see.
Week 4
Our Core Story this week has been “Owl Babies”. We have loved it and the children wrote some super speech bubbles and acted out the story with puppets. We found out that night-time creatures are called nocturnal and we found lots of other creatures that hunt at night too.
In Maths we have been looking at shapes all around us and talking about the properties of different shapes. We went on a shape hunt and found lots!
In Science we did an experiment to find out “How big is a raindrop?”. Do you know? How could you find out the answer? We did an experiment and talked about our findings.
On Friday we had a special Birthday Celebration. Because children are not able to have parties at home with friends right now we decided that we would have a big one in our “Bubble” for all of the children who have had their birthdays during September, October and November. It was so lovely and the birthday children were soooooo excited!! We had party food, candles, singing, pass-the-parcel, musical statues and lots of dancing. We hope that it will have given them some super 2020 birthday memories of celebrating with their friends 😊

We have also started a new mini-topic called "Street View". We went for a walk and took photos using the iPads of different buildings. We looked carefully at rooves, walls, windows and doors. We have been looking at some artwork by an American artist called 'James Rizzi'. It is pop-art and we loved it because it is very colourful and fun. We have been drawing in the style of James Rizzi.
Week 2
We have been thinking about Remembrance Day this week and why we wear poppies. The children have shown kindness and love when we have talked about those who we have lost and how we can remember them.
We have enjoyed reading Jill Murphy's '5 Minutes Peace' and acting it out as the different characters. Year 1 made a story map and retold the story in parts.
In maths we have been using the bar model to work out additions.

In PE we are doing gymnastics now so we have begun learning new stretches and balances.
Class 1 and Nursery have remembered this weeks mission from our collective worship which was to play with others, share and show kindness. They really do play beautifully together ❤️
