Week 3
This week, in art, the children have been taking pictures of a variety of plants within our school grounds using the ipads. They will be using these pictures to create detailed sketches and watercoloured paintings in our new plants topic.
In Literacy the children have been completing their letter writing activity and producing best copies after editing their work. The finished copies are wonderful and the children can be very proud.
In maths the children have been learning to tell the time using digital and analogue clocks and converting between the two. With a little more practise I know they will be able to do this. Try telling the time at home and asking questions related to time to improve their knowledge.
We celebrated the achievements of a very well behaved Brownie and welcomed Mia bear into our class. Well done!
Week 2
Class 3 have been creative this week and completed their Roman mosaics. They look fabulous! The children took great care in placing the tiles in the correct place to form their masterpieces.
As part of our celebration of the Eucharist, we had a special morning attending church to take part in prayer and worship. The children enjoyed listening to stories by Father Declan and Bearnadette, and singing songs to Our Lord and Our Mother Mary.
In Literacy this week we finished our final presented draft of the recount to Doncaster Museum. The children have worked very hard to improve the quality of presentation and sentence structure and I'm sure you will agree they are fantastic!
The children have also been learning about different tense forms and how to write in the perfect present tense and how this differs from the past tense. They learnt a special song to remember. I have added the link for you to sing along!
In Maths we have started looking at time. The children have been recapping O'clock, Half past, Quarter Past and Quarter To from previous year groups. We have been concentrating on telling the time to 5 Minutes Past and To and developing to 1 Minute Past and To. Try to have a go at telling the time at home!
We had more celebrations in class too! We celebrated good behaviour and participation in an acting class, a special dance shared by one of our pupils and a range of dance medals for outstanding performances in dance! Well done girls it is always a pleasure to see your talents out of school too!
Week 1
Welcome back Class 3. I hope you have all had a wonderful Easter break! We have had a very busy week completing our Romans topic. We have been looking at Roman life and how the invasion on Britain changed our country. Children used books, videos and ipads to research their information and recorded their findings in a table. They also researched what a Roman soldier looked like and identified parts of their uniform.
Some children completed their Easter pattern work from before the holidays and took pride in showing them to to others.
We had a celebratory moment where we applauded the successful completion of a dancing show out of school. One of our pupils was excited to tell us all about it and even demonstrated her dances and songs from Mamma Mia and Matilda. A fabulous achievement Well Done!
