Class 2 spring term 2  planning document

Welcome to our Spring 2 Class Page.
 

Every week our page will be updated with all the things we have been busy with in school. Did you see all the amazing things we did in Spring 1?

A few points to note this half term.... (updated information in bold)

• PE will be every Wednesday morning for all C2 children. We will be learning Chinese dance with Miss Ellie, our dance Teacher. PE kits are not needed- children may take off socks and shoes to participate in the dance lesson in the hall. Please no earrings on this day. 
• All items of clothing and belongings must have names on so we can help locate them if they are lost.
• Reading books must be in school every day. We encourage children to read at least three times a week at home. They will be awarded extra credits if there are three adult signatures in their diary each week.
• Reading books are linked to their Read Write Inc group in school unless they are off the program and then they will have a book suited to their individual need.
• The children will continue to be set some homework tasks every Wednesday which will support the children's learning in school. We will put a sticker in their homework books if it is Purple Mash homework that week.
• Children need to bring a water bottle to school each day. Water only please.
• Check the class page each week, this can be saved as a shortcut on phones and tablets for easy access. Children really do enjoy talking about the pictures and videos we upload each week.
• If you require any additional support with anything we do in class please do come and see us.

Week 7

This week we learnt about hot cross buns! We learnt about their history and what they symbolise. We know that the cross helps us to remember the day Jesus died on the cross. Some of us really enjoyed them , others did not like the taste. We learnt the song 'hot cross buns too'. What a lovely Easter afternoon!

Week 6

Proud of our Y2s this week!!

Our year two children have worked so hard this week completing practise SATs papers!  Well done - we are super proud of you!! 

21st March 2023 - Lots of Socks

We had a special assembly to learn about The Lots Of Socks campaign which raises awareness of Down Syndrome.  We then designed our own socks and hung them up to show our support.

Lovely Lenten Cards 

The children have really enjoyed making their Lenten cards today.  They have illustrated them beautifully and have made some special Lenten promises.

Week 3 6.3.23

Our amazing, snowy food tech day!

The children really loved their exciting trip to Pizza Express in the snow today!  We tried lots of new foods we had never had before such as: spinach, olives, artichokes, goats cheese, raw red onion, mozzarella and roasted peppers.  It was a mixed response!! 

The children acted as chefs and made their own, unique and yummy pizzas and especially loved sampling them at the end!!

Spring 2, Week 2-

World Book Day!

The children have lved getting dressed up as their chosen word today and reading 'The Word Collector'.  We have really developed our vocabulary, up-levelling our words.  We have enjoyed our World Book Day activities.

Design & Technology

We really enjoyed our DT today.  We looked at a variety of foods and determined if they were fruit or a vegetable.  We found that all the fruits contained seeds.  There were a few surprises - like cucumber being a fruit!!

Week 1 -  Theatrical Dance

We have really enjoyed our special dance workshop today.  We told the story of The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl through theatrical dance.  It was great!!

This week we have been enjoying Chinese dance with Miss Ellie.

We have learnt all about Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.

In RE we recited the Lord's prayer with our partner's and discussed the words we liked the most. We talked about holy communion and what makes meal times special.
