This week we found out about micro-organisms and the conditions that allow them to grow. We conducted an experiment to see which conditions were best using 2 pieces of bread kept under different conditions and recording our findings.
This week we found out about some of the greatest achievements of the Maya civilisation including their framing practices, their grasp of astronomy and the calendar system they developed. We talked about the impact that each of these things had on their civilisation and the evidence we could see of this. We then created replicas of their calendar.
Class 4 have been working hard in music this week learning the song To Make You Feel My Love by Adele and have been using Glockenspiels to acompany this. ^ of our amazing singers chose to form a small band to perform their rendition and were amazing!
This week we have continued our work exploring Maya civilisation. We created a timeline of significant events in Maya history, found out where abouts in the modern world the ancient Maya kingdoms could be found and what some of these kingdoms were called and finallybegan looking at some of the most prominent tools used in Maya society and some fo the technologies that they developed in their history and how they were used.
This week we had a very exciting visit from Prime VR who took us on a virtual visit to the Maya pyramids and gave us a taste of what the Maya kingdoms and settlements might have looked like.
This week we started our art unit studying still life drawing. We created a scene using a collection of classroom items and then practised sketching what we could see in our frame.
