In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘
'Come to the Party.’
The children thought about planning a party and responded to multiple choice questions.
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
“The Kingdom of Heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feat for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited…’
Matthew 22:2-3
Our key word for this week is ‘respect.’
Ask your child if they can share what this means and show the action we used to remember the word?
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder… how the people on the roads felt about being invited to the party?’
The children thought about how Jesus’ parable about the king’s party explains our invitation to God’s Kingdom. When the people refused the king’s invitations, he filled the wedding hall with people who were glad to come. God is so generous that He invites everyone to share in His love and friendship forever. The king was upset because one guest accepted the invitation but did not come prepared for the celebration. Jesus reminds us that God’s invitation is for everyone and our response matters. Let’s remember Jesus’ words, ‘Many are called but few are chosen’.
Think for a moment about how you could follow Jesus through your words and actions today.
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can we follow Jesus and make a difference through your words and actions?’
We finished by praying an offering prayer:
Thanks be to you, my Lord Jesus Christ,
for all the benefits
which you have given me,
for all the pains and insults
which you have borne for me.
O most merciful Redeemer,
friend and brother,
may I know you more clearly,
love you more dearly,
and follow you more nearly,
day by day.
Amen
In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘Love and Respect.’
The children thought about scenarios and described if they thought the situations were showing ‘respect’ or ‘reject.’
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
“Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone…”’
Matthew 21:42
Our key word for this week is ‘rosary.’
Ask your child if they can share what this means and show the action we used to remember the word?
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder… why did the owner of the vineyard keep giving the tenants more chances?
The children thought about how the owner of the vineyard is like God. God never gives up on us. Even when we don't always love Him or respect Him as we should, He keeps reaching out to us. The son in the story reminds us of Jesus. Jesus was rejected and put to death on the Cross. But, He chose to accept rejection and even death because of His great love for us. In the Gospel, Jesus reminds the people of these words from Scripture: ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’ (Matthew 21:42). A cornerstone is an important part of a building and without it a building is not complete and can fall down. Jesus is our cornerstone and if we reject Him our lives are not complete. Just like the tenants, we all have a choice: Will we reject Jesus or will we show Him the love and respect He deserves? One of the best ways we can show our love and respect for Jesus is by listening to God and trying to follow Him each day.
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can we make choices that show love and respect to the people around you each day?’
We finished by praying an offering prayer:
O Jesus,
through the most pure heart of Mary,
I offer you all my prayers,
thoughts, works and sufferings of this day
for all the intentions of your most Sacred heart.

In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘Actions Louder Than Words.’
The children played a game where they had to think and listen carefully.
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
“Which of the two did the will of his father?”
Matthew 21:31
Our key word for this week is ‘listen.’
Ask your child if they can share what this means and show the action we used to remember the word?
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder… which of the sons in Jesus’ parable did the right thing?’
The children thought about how, in the Gospel, Jesus shows us that our actions are important. We can’t just think about acting, or say we’ll do something then change our minds - we need to actually do what we say we’ll do. Jesus showed us how to love others and each day, we have opportunities to say ‘yes’ to God and reflect His love through our actions. We might show love by helping at home, speaking kind words to our friends or comforting someone who is upset. Jesus tells us that just like the first son and Oli, who said ‘no’ then thought again, we too have a second chance. God always gives us another chance to get things right. Jesus showed us that God’s love for us never ends. We receive God’s love through all the people who care for us and all the kindnesses we are given.
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can we show love to others in little ways this week?’
We finished by praying the Angel of God:
Angel of God,
my guardian dear,
to whom God’s love commits me here,
ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide.
In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘Generous and Just.’
The children played a game where they thought about things which were generous and just.
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
“Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or do you begrudge my generosity? So the last will be first, and the first last.”
Matthew 20:15-16
Our key word for this week is ‘dialogue.’
Ask your child if they can share what this means and show the action we used to remember the word?
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder… why did the vineyard workers find the master’s generosity difficult to understand?’
The children thought about how the first workers in the vineyard struggled to understand the master’s decision. They were focused on what others had received, rather than seeing the bigger picture. We discussed how sometimes, we might find it difficult to understand God’s ways too. Jesus reminds us that God sees the bigger picture. He is always generous and just, and He is always true to His promises. We thought about how unlike the workers who thought they had to earn their reward, we know that God’s love is a gift. We do not have to earn His love, He freely gives it to us. We are all invited to open our hearts and receive His love.
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can we trust in God’s love and share His generosity with others this week?'
We finished by praying the Act of Love:
My God, because you are so good,
I love you with all my heart,
and for your sake,
I love your neighbour as myself.
In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘Forgive, Reset, Repeat.’
The children played a game where they needed to decide what to do in tricky situations.
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
“Peter came up and said to Jesus, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?”’
Matthew 18:21
Our key word for this week is ‘outreach.’
Ask your child if they can share what this means and show the action we used to remember the word?
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder… why did Jesus say we should forgive so many times?’
The children explored how Jesus teaches us to ‘Love one another’ but sometimes we get it wrong and make bad choices. Hurtful words and actions separate ourselves from others and they also separate us from God. It’s difficult to love God the Father and love others when there is a gap between you. Jesus shows us how to close the gap by saying sorry. Sometimes our wrong choices and sin move us away from God, but He always loves us, forgives us, and longs to welcome us back. Jesus shows us how to close the gap by forgiving others, just as God the Father forgives us. Forgiveness resets our friendship with each other and brings us back into friendship with God. Saying sorry and forgiving others isn’t always easy, but the Holy Spirit gives us the strength to do just that!
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can we ‘love one another’ by being forgiving this week?’
We finished by praying the Act of Contrition:
O my God,
because you are so good,
I am very sorry that I have sinned against you,
and with the help of your grace
I will not sin again.
In our Gospel assembly this week, the children explored and celebrated ‘Gathered in His name.’
The children played a game where they needed to work out if it was easier working together or on your own.
The children listened to this week’s Gospel –
“For where two or three are gathered I my name, there I am among them.”
Matthew 18:20
Our key word for this week is ‘encounter.’
The children’s wonder question this week is: ‘I wonder… why does living peacefully and praying together help us to become stronger?”
The children discussed how living in a community with others is a gift, but the Gospel reminds us that it can also include disagreements. Jesus teaches that we can choose to live His way by being a community that listens to each other and settles conflict. By living peacefully together, we become united and can recognise Jesus' presence with us. Prayer strengthens our faith, and one of the greatest ways to pray is with others. When we gather together to pray in Jesus' name, our faith grows and we are reminded that God hears our prayers and is always with us.
Our Mission for this week is – ‘How can we bring peace to our community by listening, helping and praying together this week?’
We finished by praying the Lord’s prayer:
Our Father,
who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on Earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen
