At the start of the spring term, Class 1 welcomed new children who quickly began to settle into the class routines with the support of familiar adults and their peers. The term began with a cold and icy start to the year, providing exciting opportunities to explore winter through outdoor play, observations and discussion about cold weather and seasonal changes. The children showed great interest in animals, learning about how different animals sound, live, adapt and stay warm during winter. Through play-based activities, they developed their understanding of positional language such as over, under, next to and behind, using this vocabulary while building, playing and solving simple problems together. These experiences encourage curiosity, teamwork and early problem-solving skills as the children continue to grow in confidence and independence.
