School Fundraising Ideas and Charity at St. Helen's

At St. Helen's Catholic Primary School, the spirit of giving back is deeply rooted in our values. Throughout the year, our pupils work hard in various charitable activities, extending their hearts to those in need. These activities not only contribute to the well-being of our community, but also offer important lessons to our wonderful pupils. As part of our commitment to the Hoyland and Barnsley communities, we're excited to share some school fundraising ideas that have played a huge role in shaping the compassionate and responsible individuals that our children are becoming.

Children in Need: A Lesson in Empathy and Solidarity

One of the standout events this year was our involvement in Children in Need. Our pupils took charge of various activities, from crafting spotty buns to spotty face painting, all in the name of supporting Children in Need. The initiative raised an impressive £455 and also taught our students the values of empathy and solidarity. By actively taking part in school fundraising ideas, our pupils learned the importance of helping others and making a difference in the lives of those facing hardship.

CAFOD Copper Trails: Fostering Healthy Competition for a Worthy Cause

The Copper Trails was not only a creative project, it was also a lesson in teamwork and healthy competition. Classes competed to create the longest copper trail, collecting spare coins to donate to CAFOD. The £100 raised showed the power of working together, teaching our pupils that even small contributions, when combined, can make a big difference. Students learned the importance of teamwork and collaboration.

Barnsley Hospice Elf Run: Fun, Fitness, and Fundraising

The Elf Run at St. Helen's was not just about running laps dressed as elves; it was about combining fun, fitness, and fundraising for a worthy cause. Students participated with enthusiasm, raising over £100 for Barnsley Hospice. Besides encouraging physical activity, this event brought joy to giving back.

Harvest Festival: Nourishing the Community

Our Harvest Festival celebrations took on a special meaning this year as we collected food to support St. Wilfred's Centre in Sheffield. By donating food to the less fortunate, our pupils learned the significance of compassion and the impact of their contributions on the lives of those in need. Together, we learned about the community beyond the classroom, fostering a sense of responsibility.

Tesco Food Drive: Spreading Joy through Reverse Advent

Class 4 embraced the season of giving by organising a reverse advent calendar, collecting canned and dried food products each day leading up to Christmas. In the end, Tesco received a generous donation for its food drive. Our pupils were able to support a local cause while also learning the importance of generosity and kindness.

Spreading Christmas Cheer: A Musical Gift to the Community

The St. Helen's School Choir played an essential role in spreading festive joy throughout our community. From entertaining the residents of Woodlands Lodge to brightening up the Alhambra Centre in Barnsley and Tesco in Hoyland, our choir shared the gift of music and laughter. While the events raised funds for the school, the primary focus was on bringing happiness to others, embodying the true spirit of Christmas.
