We hope you enjoy our Christmas song

Our final week of the Autumn term has been incredibly busy but equally as amazing.  We have all enjoyed our Christmas party which was full of fun and laughter.  We had games of pass the parcel, dancing competitions, balloon games all followed by a very delicious lunch.  We had the best time and all behaved fantastically.

Mrs Blakemore and the Nursery staff would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

Today we made Christingles and learnt about the different meanings behind the different parts.  The orange represents the world and the ribbon reminds us that God loves everyone and the blood of Jesus.  The candle reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world.  There are four sticks with dried fruit to remind us of the four seasons God created.

We were all very excited to go on a shopping spree at the Credit Shop.  We had all earnt at least 1600 credits this term, which is amazing!  We used our credits to buy lots of exciting things.

We hope you all love you bespoke wrapping paper that we happily created for you.  We enjoyed printing the different Christmas shapes to create a range of patterns.  Some of us even created a repeating pattern.

We have been very creative these past few weeks making sure our Christmas Goody bags are full of special treats.  We couldn't wait to add our peg snowmen to our bags.

We could not contain our excitement on Tuesday when Rocket the Elf brought us all a special letter from Santa.

Week 6

We had a fantastic time at our Christmas movie night.  We enjoyed watching "Prep and Landing" and "Olaf's Christmas Adventures".  Our hot chocolate and cookies were a very tasty treat.

Week 5

In collective worship this week we have learnt more about the importance of advent.  We lit the first candle on our advent wreath and learnt that this represents "Hope".  We remembered that Jesus is the light of the world.  In our reflection we shared how we are hopeful for the future and how we will prepare for this special time.

Week 4

This week we have continued our topic of snow and ice by designing and making our own tasty and very cold snow cones.  We made our cone first by cutting out a circle shape and making a cut up the middle.  After that we decorated the cones.  To make the snow one we added some warm water and ice to a blender.  It took a while but finally the ice began to melt and went slushy.  We shared the slush into our cones and added some tasty strawberry syrup.  They were delicious!

As it has been a little frosty on arrival to school this week, we went on a nature walk to see what we could find.  We loved finding the frosty leaves.  The frost had turned the leaves stiff so we found warm places to put them and watched the frost melt.

On Friday we were all very excited to build our very own snowman! As there was no snow on the floor we built our very own marshmallow Olaf's. We used different sized marshmallows for the different parts of his body and then we added raisins for eyes and button, with an orange nose and a scarf.  They looked very sweet and tasted even better!

Week 3

This week is Anti-bullying week. To start the week of celebrating our differences we all came to school wearing odd socks.  We listening to Andy and the Odd Socks sing a song about this years theme "One Kind Word".  We had lots of fun dancing and singing along with our balloons.  Afterwards we designed and made our own odd sock puppet.  It was lots of fun.

Today we had lots of fun playing with the ice that we made on Friday.  We watched the ice melt and release the animals we had frozen inside. We told some of our friends all about our ice experiment and they then decided to put a tub f ice on the radiator to help release the creature more quickly.

As part of our snow and ice topic we practised our scissor skills by making paper snowflakes.  We learnt that no two snowflakes are ever the same.  Do you remember how to make them? Click on the link below and get creative.

Week 2

This week we have started our new topic “ice and snow”.  We became super scientists and explored how we can make ice by freezing water.  Once the water had frozen we learnt about melting. We experimented which conditions melted the ice the quickest by putting containers of ice on the radiator, outside and on the table.  We learnt that the warmer the conditions the quicker the ice melts.  We handled blocks of ice and described how it felt.  We can’t wait to learn more about the artic region and the animals that live there.

In PE this week we explored jumping.  Firstly we practised how to jump safely by bending your knees when you land.  We also learnt that if you use your arms this can help you to jump further or higher.  After mastering jumping safely we transferred these skills onto the apparatus.  We practised travelling and jumping off safely.

On Friday we learnt about Remembrance Day. We now know that Poppy Day is a special day to remember all the brave soldiers that have fought in war.  We watched the video “poppies” on CBeebies. This beautiful animation shows war as experienced by animals in the battlefield.  Afterwards we painted poppies.

Welcome back everyone!  I hope you have all enjoyed your half term break with lots of fun and laughter.  This week we will be learning all about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot.  We will learn the importance of staying safe on Bonfire Night.

We created colourful firework pictures using PVA glue, salt and paint. First we had to squeeze the glue into our firework shapes and then we poured salt all over our pictures.  Once the glue had dried we watched the paint spread and mix to create an explosion of colour.

We continued to create firework using bright coloured sand. We made different patterns, shapes and lines in the sand.  We even made edible fireworks which tasted delicious.

We celebrated Diwali by creating rangoli patterns using puffy paint on CDs and using different shaped dried pasta. We learnt all about the festival of light and made mhendi patterns on prints hands.

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
