Autumn Term 1

Week 6

This week we have enjoyed the traditional tale “The 3 Little Pigs”. We have read different versions of the story and acts out our own versions. We have some budding actors and actresses in Class 1!

In History we have asked the question- “Has school always been the same?” We are happy to say that the answer is no! We found out about Victorian school days and how strict the teachers used to be. Mr Simms came in and told us about what school was like for him. We are glad that we go to school in the present time!

In PE we are enjoying health related exercise this term with Mr Johnson and Mr Kynoch. The children are listening superbly to instructions.

In Art the self-portraits are coming along beautifully- the finished products are going to make gorgeous Christmas presents 🎁

In maths we are learning different addition techniques. This week the children have used grab mats to find the total of two different amounts.

Week 5

We have loved our new construction crates!! We are so lucky that we have been able to buy these specially made, reinforced plastic crates which cost a LOT of money! We have used some of the money raised from our Sponsored Nursery Rhyme week last yearπŸ˜ƒ The children (and staff) have had some fantastic, imaginative ideas about what we can build with them and had hours and hours of quality engagement and learning.

Week 4

This week we have started our new Maths groups. We love Numberblocks and we are loving finding out more about numbers to 10 and beyond. We have been looking for signs of Autumn and we have started an experiment. We are finding out "Do pine cones know it's raining?". The crisp, cool, sunny Autumn days have been perfect for den building and playing in our outdoor area.

Week 3

Another busy week including another artist- Antoni Gaudi, a glitter experiment to find out about germs, cosmic kids yoga and lots of fun learning in provisionπŸ˜ƒ

Week 2

This week is "Creative Week- The Story of a Masterpiece". We have started by looking at an artist called Paul Klee and the story of "The Cat and the Bird".  Paul Klee once said: " A drawing is simply a line going for a walk". We have had so much fun taking our own lines for walks and creating artwork in the style of Paul Klee!

Week 1

It has been a fantastic week and all of the children in Class 1 have been super. They are so sensible and independent when coming into school each morning and have been accessing provision and enjoying new experiences all week. We have read “The Colour Monster” and talked about feelings and emotions. Our core book this week has been “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. Our Nursery Rhyme of the week has been Humpty Dumpty and our number song of the week 5 Little Ducks.
