Music

This half term our topic in music has been reggae music.  We have learnt about the origins of this style of music and have listened to a variety of reggae artists.  We have enjoyed listening to a range of songs by Bob Marley.  Our favourite has been 'Three Little Birds'.  We have rehearsed this song and performed in small groups to the rest of the class.

They enjoyed exploring the outdoor area in the sunshine! They had so much fun! What a treat! Well done Class 2 we are super proud of you all!

Amazing Home Learning!

Super proud of this young lady!  An amazing non-chronological report on Sharks, including an awesome introduction, fantastic facts, illustrations and captions!  I loved the fact that you are more likely to die by a coconut falling on your head then you are by a shark!  Wow!!  heart

Goodbye Mrs Thompson! We will miss you!

Today was the last day for our lovely Mrs Thompson! We have been very, very lucky to have such a wonderful member of staff looking after our children here in Class 2! I know we will all miss her very much!!! We would like to wish her lots of luck in her new adventure, we know she will be amazing!!!!!

Lots of love from all the Teachers and children xxxxx

Bossy Verb Charades!

The class had brilliant time playing bossy verb charades this morning. The children had to act out an imperative verb and their partner had to guess what it was. The children were fantastic at being bossy! They will sue these words in their instruction writing next week!

Today the children had to help the frogs munch only their chosen material. They had to work in pairs to decide what the objects were made from and which material muncher they belonged to. They had lots of fun!

Week 4 - w/c 29/4/2024

Computing

The children have really enjoyed 'playing shop' today to understand the role of computers in every day life.  We discussed what technology looked like and how we used it in different places such as checking in to an airport, using Alexa to program heating, lighting etc.  We then focussed on the suggested location of supermarkets.  The children then used role play to play the role of shoppers, cashiers, digital recorders and database operators.  We then pretended to use technology within a supermarket to perform the role of scanning items, taking card payments, checking stock and reordering stock.  They used paper ‘databases’ to keep check on the stock of the varies items in store.

Week 3 - w/c 22/04/2024

World Habitats!

Over the last few weeks we have been looking at different habitats where plants and animals live and how they have adapted to survive. Did you know their are microhabitats all around us? Well this week we are focusing on bigger world habitats. We didn't know much about them so we used the ipads and books to research our chosen habitat. We will be making our habitats in our arts and crafts afternoon tomorrow with our grown ups! We are very excited!

What a fantastic afternoon! Thank you to all the parents that came to our parent's craft session, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The habitat boxes from around the world were outstanding!

Week 2 - w/c 15/04/2024

The class 2 children have worked collaboratively with the year 1 children in class 1 to make a moving vehicle.  They have really enjoyed designing, building and testing their designs and we are so super proud of how they have worked together in their pairs!  Well done!! yes

In Maths this week we have started our time topic. We have started with learning how to read and interpret a calendar using the months of the year and days of the week. We have been looking at which days and months come before and after. We learnt all about leap years and how many days in a year. We learnt some songs to help us.

Reading Champions!

In Mrs Miller and Mrs Levick's literacy group, we love to challenge ourselves when reading.  We are becoming very confident when reading aloud with great pace, expression and accuracy!  We are becoming brilliant at retrieving information from texts we have read and are building excellent comprehension skills.

Super shark researching!

For the first 3 weeks of Summer term, we are focussing on non-chronological reports.  We have looked at the features of this text type and have begun to research our chosen topic for writing..... duh-de....duh-de....duh-de....duh-de.... sharks!  The children are really enjoying using their researching skills, looking at a range of sources to find out more about these amazing animals!

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in a diverse and ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
