Week 6 - 10th February
We love Monday morning sharing books with our friends and choosing our favourite to take home.
In math we have been learning all about shapes and patterns. We used a variety of shapes to make arrangements and patterns. We were very creative and made cars, rockets, houses and lots more.
In RE we have been learning about other religions. We learnt about the Muslim religion of Islam. Muslims pray five times a day. When Muslims pray they use a prayer mat facing towards Mecca. We used a range of shapes to create pictures of prayer mats.
On Friday we celebrated Valentine's Day. We talked about how we can show love to those around us by being kind and caring. We thought about how we show our family love and we created them a special picture. We hope you like them.
Week 5 - 3rd February
Our core story this week was The Three Little Pigs. We really enjoyed listening to the story and joining in with the repeated story language. We used the masks and props to retell the story in our own words. We discussed the favourite part of the story. Some of our favourite parts include, the wolf blowing the houses down and when the wolf fell down the chimney and ran away.
Week 4 - 27th January
This week we have been learning all about Chinese New Year. We have watched video's of children celebrating Chinese New Year with their families. We were very lucky for two of our Key Stage 2 children to visit us in Nursery and talk about how they celebrated Chinese New Year. Many people celebrate by decorating their homes with colourful decorations. We created our own lanterns and cut out mandarins which are signs of prosperity and hope. We watched videos of dragon and lion dances and then used our hands to create our own dragon. We finished our celebrations with some tasty treats. We tried noodles and prawn crackers.
Exploring our senses is always lots of fun. This week we have been exploring the sense of touch using crazy foam. Most of us found it very exciting rolling and squeezing the foam through our fingers. We made shapes and then flattened them.
In Nursery we focus a lot on developing our social interaction skills. It has been wonderful to see all of our January starters settle into Nursery life and begin to make friends. We are all learning to share, take turns and resolve conflicts in an appropriate manner. This week we feel some wonderful friendships are forming and it is amazing to be a part of. We are so proud of all our Superheroes.
Week 3 - 20th January
Our core story this week is "The Three Billy Goats Gruff". We loved listening to the story and the different voices Mrs Blakemore used for the characters. We then used props to retell the story ourselves.
In Math we have been practicing our counting skills. We have been counting in different moods up to 5 and back. We have been learning all about one to one correspondence, counting one object as we say a number name. The last number we say is the amount of objects we have. Please help me practice this important skill at home.
Singing and performing nursery rhymes helps children to develop their speaking skills. We love singing a range of songs throughout our day in nursery. Some of our favourites this week have included; Twinkle twinkle, Baa baa black sheep, Wind the bobbin up and The grand old Duke of York. Can you help me to sing songs at home?
Week 2 - 13th January
This week we have enjoyed taking our bird feeders outside and placing them in different places for the birds. Which birds do you think we will attract?
Week 1 - 6th January
What a way to start the new half term, with a snow day! We hope you all managed to enjoy the snow.
We would like to welcome our new January starters to Nursery. We hope you have been looking forward to starting and are ready to make lots of new friends and learn new routines.
This week we have focused on learning the names of our new friends and teaching them our Nursery rules. Our older Superheroes have been very kind and caring, helping the new children to find their way around and helping them to "Choose it, Use it and Put it away". Learning to sit on the carpet is not always easy but it is a key skill that helps us to focus and learn new things.
Please remember that we are always here to help and support, should you wish to speak to any of the Nursery Team.
