Autumn 1 - Anglo-Saxons

Weekending 25th October 2024

We finished the term with a dodge ball tournement.

We had a visit from Sean Gaffney who put us through our paces with a fitness circuit. We had loads of fun completeing our sponsored challenges. 

Week ending18th October 2024

 

This week ended on a high with Rockstars day! The children were battling against the other classes and the other pupils to see who would win the Rock stars trophy. The competition lasts all week so there is all to play for!

Come on class 4!!

The children really enjoyed presenting their assembly to parents and classes 3 and 5. Everyone did a great job and should be really proud of themselves.

Week ending Fri 11th Oct 2024

 

In Science we have been looking at sound and this week we investigated the pitch of different musical instruments. 

In Art we looked at the traditional style of Willow Pattern china and the children created a Nativity plate in this style. They explored using different tints of blue. Their work is beautiful.

Week ending Fri 4th October 2024

This week we had an impromptu visit from patrolling police horses and their officers. They talked to the children about their horses and the job they did. Everyone who wanted to, had a stroke and a pat. It was magical.

The first very happy winners of our book prize draws.

Science

This week the Class 4 complete an investigation in to whether the size of your pinnea affects how loudly you hear things. We discussed ways to ensure our test was fair and repeated the experiment to get a more reliable set of data. 

R.E.

In R.E. this week the children were learning about Joseph who raised Jesus. We looked at a number of artist's impressions of Joseph, read some Scripture and talked about what we knew Joseph had done. The children reflected upon the sort of person and father that Joseph was from their findings. Two children volunteered to be Joseph in a "Hot Seat" question and answer session.

PE

In PE this week we have continued to develop our basketball skills, such as passing and dribbling.

This week we have been learning through music in topic and learnt some songs about the Anglo-Saxons.

Week ending Fri 20th Sep 2024

The children made lenticular pictures in Art this week. There was lots of measuring, ruling and scoring involved! the results are quite spectacular as they have two pictures in one.

In Literacy we have reviewed our learning on nouns and had fun with this interactive activity.

Week ending Fri 13th September '24

Class 4 are off to a busy week.

In our class worship / assembly the theme was "Respect and Courtesy" which is our current Virtue in school. Together, the class made up a poem about respect and here it is:

PE

This week we have continued to work on our fitness. The session this week was looking at accuracy when throwing. 

In Literacy the children have been exploring common and proper nouns and in maths are working on place value.

Weekending 6th September

What a great start to the year!

Class 4 have had a lovely week settling into the class and ended the week with a whole class game of tig.
