Towers, Tunnels and Turrets!

Towers, Tunnels and Turrets!

The children are all very excited about the launch of our new topic which is all about Towers, Tunnels and Turrets. We all love the awe and mystery of a grand castle and that is exactly where we are heading! You should have found a letter in your child's book bag about our upcoming visit to the fabulous Conisbrough Castle so please return the permission slip as soon as possible because this is an amazing visit that your child will not want to miss.

Over the next few months we will be very busy learning all about Castles and the people who lived in them. We will be designing castles using ICT software, building castles (start saving those cereal boxes) and during our Science Week we will even be knocking some castles down!

Baton down the hatches, it's going to be a busy term and here is how you can support your child at home with their learning:

  • Visit Goldthorpe Library to borrow books to share about Castles and Fairytales
  • Use the internet to research various types of castles and their features
  • Write a story about a character who lives in a castle or simply alter one you already know by changing the names of the characters
  • Build and measure towers using objects like sugar cubes, lego, building blocks, empty cereal boxes etc. Does a wider base make a difference?

There are even more ideas if you click on the links below - have fun!

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
