Week 7
In Maths we have been working on symmetry.
In Literacy we continued our work on letter writing by writing to the council to complain about Stig's dump and the dangers to life and impact on the environment.
We have looked at what life as Stig may have been like by studying early humans and understanding how we know about them from the skeletons found in the past.
Week 6
In Maths we have learned how to calculate the area and perimeter of 2D shapes.
In Literacy we have been investigating how to write letters. We looked at the style and vocabulary used in formal letter writing. We started our new class novel - "Stig of the Dump".
Week 5
In Maths we have been investigating 3D shapes.
We have also introduced our new topic on the Stone age. We have looked at a timeline of life from the stone age to the present day and where in history different times began.
Week 4
This week Class 3 have been weather forecasters All children have written a weather forecast to present to the rest of the class. We filmed the forecasts on ipads which was fun to watch! We now know weather symbols and have done data handling relating to temperature and rainfall.
Week 3
We have continued and completed our mountain collages which are fantastic!
We have done more work in Maths on telling the time but concentrated on the passage of time. It is fun to time things in seconds, minutes or hours!
Week 2
In Maths we have been concentrating on formal methods for addition and subtraction and also telling the time. Please ask your child the time when at home or out and about.
In art we began to create collages of mountains for our topic.
Week 1
This week we looked at mental addition and subtraction as well as the formal written methods to help us. We also looked at the formal "grid method" of multiplication.
In Science we investigated the changing state of materials.
