Class 4

Welcome to Class 4

 

 

 

 Class 4 is a mixed class of both year 4 and year 5 pupils. We are a busy class of eager learners and our classroom is always buzzing with new and exciting activities and challenges. 

 

Class 4 staff team:

Miss Ashmore, Mrs Wood, Miss Holgate and Mr Burns. 

 

What does your child need every day?

  • Full and correct school uniform - please see the school uniform policy.
  • Book bag - remember to check it every night for letters.
  • Reading Book - this will be changed each week.
  • Reading Diary - your child will be rewarded for reading at home on a regular basis.
  • PE Kit should be brought to school on a Monday and taken home on a Friday. (Earrings must be removed for PE sessions).
  • Water Bottle. (Water only please - we are a healthy school).

 

Homework will go out every Wednesday and is expected to be returned on the following Monday. Homework will include times tables practice using TTRS, 20 minutes reading each day, a Literacy challenge and spellings.

Long Term Plan

 Throughout the year, Class 4 will explore and experience an array of texts, skills, investigations and research to further children's knowledge and understanding across the curriculum. The documents below share current planning information for the 2024/2025 academic year. 

Medium Term Plan

Throughout this half term, children will explore VIPERS skills in Guided Reading when exploring varying texts weekly. Children will also explore a range of punctuation, spelling and grammar when studying our place value of punctuation and grammar unit this half term.

 

In Maths, children will explore their knowledge and understanding of place value, roman numerals and addition and subtraction. 

 

In Science, children will learn about electricity and sound, engaging in differing investigations and experiments to explore key concepts such as conductors, insulators, circuits and their components.

 

In Religious Education, children will learn about the domestic church, exploring scripture, prayer and the knowing and loving of God, along with the importance of community. 

 

In History, children will learn about the settlements in Britain by Anglo-Saxons and the Scots.

 

In Art, children will explore art and design skills throughout this half term. Within this unit, children will use sketchbooks to design ideas, develop drawing skills and explore optical illusions, Paul Cezanne and still life.

 

In ICT, children will learn about online safety, collaborative learning and coding. 

 

In PE, children will engage in fitness skills and basketball. 

 

In Music, children will have an external music teacher, exploring rhythm, varying beats and differing notes.
