Dear Parents / Carers,
As we enter the final week of the academic year I wanted to share with you how proud I am of St Helen’s and everything that has been achieved over the last year. Prepare for a stat attack!
All of the tables below show our results for the last three years. They will show the difference between our results in 2016 and now. They will also show the current national average and then how we compare to that. We always aim to be close to or ideally above the national average.
In most cases given our class sizes each child is worth approximately 5%. Please note the national figures and school figures may be subject to slight change.
Early Years
Children in FS2 (Reception) work towards achieving a Good Level of Development (GLD).

A really high result – very well done to all of the children and staff in FS2 – amazing work!
Key Stage 1
Children in Year 2 work towards their Statutory Assessment Tests or SATs as they are more commonly known. The hope is that as many children as possible achieve the expected level or above (Expected +) by the end of the year. Children working at Greater Depth (GD) have achieved the expected level but have also demonstrated a deeper understanding of their work.

Well done to all of our children and staff in Year 2 – it’s really good to see we have achieved above the national average in the combined R/W/M for the first time and also the increased number of children achieving greater depth – very well done!
Key Stage 2
Children in Year 6 have also been working very hard on their SATs this year, again we aim to get as many children as possible to working at or above the expected level (Expect+). For those children achieving Greater Depth (GD) it demonstrates a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

So proud of these Y6 results – well done to all of the children and staff. The combined score is fantastic as is the amount of children reading at greater depth. You should all be very proud of yourselves – well done. Could these results put us in the top 20 schools in Barnsley? Fingers crossed!
Yours sincerely
Mr D Thorpe
