Autumn 1

Week 8

Our story this week has been 'The Hairy Toe' by Daniel Postgate. The children have loved this funny story and have been drawing pictures linked to the story. We have also been having some fun with pumpkins!

Week 7

Class 1 have made bread this week as part of last week's story 'The Little Red Hen'. We made two batches of bread dough, kneaded it and left it rise near a radiator. Then it was baked in the oven - it made school smell of freshly baked bread! We all got to try some with a choice of honey or jam on top!

Week 6

Class 1 have been very busy this week! We have learnt to retell the story 'The Little Red Hen' through talk for writing as a whole class. In Maths, our foundation children have been learning to use the numicon in playdough and exploring making numbers to 5. Our Year 1 children have been learning about forces in their science lesson and have been investigating what happens when you mix vinegar and bicarbonate of soda!

Week 5

This week has been World Space Week! Each day Class 1 have read a space themed storybook:

Aliens Love Underpants

The Way Back Home

The Great Balloon Hullaballoo!

Whatever Next!

We have been making rockets in our creative area!

Year 1 enjoyed an art lesson where we explored mixing poster paints and creating rollercoaster paintings!

Week 4

This week our story have been Ruby's Worry by Tom Percival. In lessons, foundation stage have been on a listening walk and practicing making patterns with our gems. Our Year 1 children have been learning about push and pull forces in a practical science lesson!

Week 3

We have had another busy week this week in class 1. Our Year 1s have been learning to shade in their art lessons. Foundation stage children have been practicing counting to 5 with the playdough.

Week 2

Our story of the week is 'Owl Babies' and in Maths we have been learning about repeating patterns and grouping objects.

Week 1

To our new FS2 children, 'welcome', to our Year 1 children, 'welcome back'! We have been getting to know our classroom, routines and, best of all, making new friends!

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
