Week 6
This week, children have explored echo and choral reading when reading a text about a variety of topics this week, such as animals and famous historians. Children have used VIPERS skills throughout the week.
In Maths, children have recapped prior learning areas throughout the week, such as co-ordinates when playing battle ships, fractions and decimals.
In PE, children have continued to explore the skills of athletics and team building tasks with friends.
In RE, class 3 have explored respect and treating others as we expect to be treated – following the footsteps of God.

Our year together has come to an end, it truly has flown. I am incredibly proud of all children for showing great resilience and determination throughout the year. I look forward to seeing your smiley faces in September.

Week 5
This week, children have explored echo and choral reading when reading a text about Ellie Simmonds, a well-known Paralympian. Children have used VIPERS skills throughout the week.
In Literacy this week, children have continued to research facts about a famous individual in preparation for writing a biography.
In Maths, children have continued to explore co-ordinates and positions on a grid.
In PE, children have continued to explore the skills of athletics in preparation for sports day at the end of our summer term.
Class 3 have really enjoyed transition this week and are looking forward to working hard within a new class.

Week 4
This week, children have explored echo and choral reading when reading a text about Martin Luther King Jr, a well-known civil rights activist. Children have used VIPERS skills throughout the week.
In Literacy this week, children have applied their knowledge of apostrophes for singular and plural use, along with prepositions and subordinating conjunctions.
In Maths, children have continued to explore co-ordinates and positions on a grid.
In PE, children have continued to explore the skills of athletics in preparation for sports day at the end of our summer term.
In RE, children have looked at religious buildings and how they may differ to ours. We discussed our special places of worship and how they help us bring peace and harmony into our daily lives.
Class 3 have also worked very hard preparing for our parent assembly on Wednesday. We hope to see many of our parents there.

This week, children have explored echo and choral reading when reading a text about Cressida Cowell, a well-known author. Children have used VIPERS skills throughout the week.
In Literacy this week, children have started to explore biographies, along with identifying the key features within a text.
In Maths, children have continued to explore shape, angles and symmetry.
In PE, children have continued to explore the skills of athletics in preparation for sports day at the end of our summer term.
In Geography, children have explored the local history of our village – particularly our mining history.
In Science, children have learnt about reversible and irreversible changes when studying states of matter.

In Literacy this week, children have applied previously studied skills when planning and writing a narrative of their very own. Children based this on ‘the lighthouse’.
In Maths, children have continued to explore shape and angles.
In PE, children have continued to explore the skills of athletics in preparation for sports day at the end of our summer term.
In Geography, children have studied a compass and completed work about direction – this has linked well with our coordinates work previously.
