Autumn Term 1

Week 8

On Monday it was lovely to see so many people attending our Harvest festival. The children loved performing!

For science week we had lots of fun! (Photos coming soon.....). Hope you all have a lovely week and stay safe - especially over the bonfire weekend.

Week 7

This week we have done lots of counting forwards and backwards on a numberline 0-20. We are learning how a numberline can help us to add and take away numbers by counting on or back.

In preparation for our Harvest Festival we have made "Potato People" to go with our song - 1 potato 2 potato. We look forward to seeing you all there on Monday morning at 9am.

Week 6

We had a very special visitor in Class 1 this week! We read the story of "The Tiger Who Came to Tea" and wrote invitations to Tiger asking him to come for tea with us. On Thursday morning he came! We all had tea with Tiger and had a fantastic parent session to finish the week where everyone was busy making tiger masks, photo frames, tiger meals, tiger cookies, tiger pom poms and eating tiger bread! 🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯 Thank you to all of you who attended it really was lovely to see the children having so much fun together with their grown ups 😍

Week 5

We have gone conkers bonkers in Class 1 this week! We have been counting, weighing, rolling and painting conkers! Our Autumn collection is fantastic and we have loved looking closely at leaves, acorns, pine cones and helicopter seed pods. We have been writing Autumn words and learning Autumn songs and poems. You might like to sing them at home😃

Week 4

This week in Maths we have been learning to write to 10 in numbers and words. We played bingo to help us! In literacy we have written about our trip and also how to look after our new class pets who have settled nicely into Class 1.

On Friday we went on an Autumn walk around school to collect beautiful leaves and look for signs of Autumn. If you collect any Autumn treasures on your travels please bring them in for our Autumn collection (conkers, acorns, colourful leaves etc).

Week 3

In literacy this week we have been writing name lists for our class pets. In maths we have been counting forwards and backwards within 10 and 20 starting with different numbers.

Thursday- the wait was finally over for our class trip to Build-a-bear workshop. When everyone had arrived at school we boarded the coach and travelled to Doncaster. When we arrived we were so excited! We chose a cat and a puppy for our class pets- ask your children if they can remember the names we chose?! We then all got to make our very own special bear to love and care for and keep forever. We travelled back to school and had a picnic with our teddies. This afternoon we decorated the boxes and made birth certificates for the bears. We made some special memories today and I was so impressed and proud of every child for their super behaviour and lovely manners. Watching the children go home today with their special boxes, bears and certificates was enough to brighten the grey, rainy afternoon. Enjoy the photos 😍

Week 2

As we begin our pets topic this week the children have loved playing in the shed which is our new role play area- "a vets". We have had lots of poorly animals including a rather large tiger who needed lots of bandages! He is now on a full road to recovery thanks to the children's love and care😃

We are all very excited about our trip this week to create our very own Class pet at build a bear workshop. We will be planning and making lists this week while we try and decide what pet we would like and what we will call it🐶🐰🐱

Mr Bamford and Mr Simms have been extremely busy building us our new sand pit- it is like having our very own little seaside at sacred heart. Shoes and socks came straight off as the children jumped right in!

We are already planning future enhancements to our outdoor area- a large scale construction area and our very own stage!

Week 1

Welcome back everyone! What a lovely class 1 we have😃 We have had lots of fun this week exploring our new classroom and meeting everybody around school.

Our topic this term is "Paws, claws and whiskers" which we will be starting next week by talking about our pets. We have a very exciting trip planned to create our own "Class pet" on the 21st September when we will visit Build a bear workshop!

Our PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays this year.

Homework will be given out on Wednesdays each week to be returned by the following Monday.
