Welcome to Class 5's page
We are the oldest children in school and work hard to be good role-models to the rest of our community, whilst building confidence and independence as we transition to secondary school. Here, you will find regular updates on the fantastic work we are completing, resources to help the Year 6 children revise and reading book suggestions.
Key Information
Spellings
Year 6 children have a spelling book which will see them through the entire year, as the children are developing their independence skills. It is very important that this booklet is looked after, as they will need it until July! Each page of the book will be a week’s worth of spellings, which will be tested in school each week.
We start a new spelling rule every Monday and are tested on the previous rule each Monday.
P.E
P.E lessons take place every Monday and Friday afternoon.
We ask that the correct P.E kit of: a plain white t-shirt, black shorts and suitable trainers is kept in school at all times and that it is clearly labelled with your child’s name. P.E. is a vital part of the curriculum and all pupils are expected to participate. In year, 6 P.E. provides a good break from all of the academic work.
Children will only be excluded for medical reasons with a note from their parents.
Reading Records
Children have been given a reading record which they will keep in school, and another which they will take home and are expected to complete each night. They are now old enough to complete this independently, and are encouraged to do so. It is important that their reading record is taken home and brought back to school every day and we will be doing regular checks on this.
