Autumn 1

Week 7

Our last week of this half term and Class 1 have continued to work so hard but all are ready for a rest!

In RE we acted out a baptism and the children talked about what we needed to include in the service. They know what some of the things are that you would see and hear at a baptism.

In Art we talked about an artist called Louis Wain and his work.

In maths we are doing addition using our knowledge of part-part-whole.

In Literacy our Talk Through Story this week was "Room on the Broom". We finished our week by watching the animated version of the story and the children loved joining in with all the phrases they knew. Follow the link below to watch it on BBC iplayer.

Have a great week everyone smiley

Week 6

We have had a lovely week of fresh, Autumn mornings and have loved hunting for Autumn treasures and looking at all the changes in our environment.

In Art we studied shapes and colour and produced some amazing pictures using a range of media.

We have been exploring how numbers are made up using Numicon and Numberblocks.

In History we have talked about our families and made family trees.

Week 5

This week our "Talk Through Stories" book is "Owl Babies" by Martin Waddell. The children can now tell the story, talk about the characters and use some phrases. We will continue to explore the story vocabulary next week. The link below is a video of the story being told.

In Art we have been making prints with shaving foam, ink and templates.

Our History topic has continued to finding out more about how life has changed. Some wonderful photos and snippets of information have been coming into school about parents and grandparents and their childhoods.

Week 4

This week in Science we have been thinking about the Seasons changing and how it affects the weather and the clothes that we wear.

In Art we have been learning about colour mixing with paint. We went for a walk to find as many different shades of green as possible. We then used blue and white to change green paint to a darker or lighter shade.

On Friday we had to say goodbye to someone very special. Mrs Sanderson is leaving to go to her new job and we will miss her very much but we wish her lots of luckheart

Week 3

This week we have been learning about how God created Our Beautiful World. The children now know about how each day a different part was created- ask them what they remember and sing our Creation songheart

We have been talking about growing up and how many things the children can now do that they were not able to in the past. Recognising change within their living memory includes using "time" vocabulary and past tense. Talk to your children about when they were younger. We will be asking for photos next week.

Week 2

This week the children have been working extremely hard in phonics. Our Year 1 children have all been doing lots of reading at home too which is fantastic! Please look out for the sounds they have been learning and continue to enjoy reading the picture books that they are choosing to bring home too smiley

In PE Mr Johnson is teaching Fundamental skills. All of our children took part this week and are building their confidence to join in and learn new skills.

Please remember that PE kits are needed EVERY TUESDAY and NO EARRINGS to be worn. Thank youyes
