Welcome to Class 3
Class 3 is a mixed class of both year 3 and year 4 pupils. We are friendly, creative and supportive. We love to learn, and we help each other every day. As busy bees, we are always looking for that next challenge. We always try our best!

What does your child need every day?
Homework will be handed out on a Wednesday and collected on a Monday. It will consist of Spelling, Reading and Maths.

Long Term Plan
Throughout the year, Class 3 will explore and experience an array of texts, skills, investigations and research to further children's knowledge and understanding across the curriculum. The documents below share current planning information for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Medium Term Plan
This half term, children will learn VIPERS skills in Guided Reading through studying short texts weekly, based around the Year 3 topic themes in History (Stone Age to Iron Age) and Science (Sound).
Children will also build upon their punctuation, spelling and grammar skills and knowledge through the 'place value of punctuation and grammar' unit this half term.
In Maths, children will explore their knowledge and understanding of place value, roman numerals and addition and subtraction.
In Science, children will learn about sound, engaging in differing investigations and experiments to explore key concepts such as sound waves, pitch and frequency and to understand how sound travels through a medium to the brain.
In Religious Education, children will learn about the domestic church, exploring scripture, prayer and the knowing and loving of God, along with the importance of community.
In History, children will learn how the tools, technology and cultural way of life changed from the Stone Age to the Iron Age in the U.K..
In Art, children will explore art and design skills throughout this half term. Within this unit, children will use sketchbooks to design ideas, develop drawing skills and explore optical illusions, Paul Cezanne and still life.
In ICT, children will learn about online safety, networks and the Internet, including some aspects of Microsoft programmes.
In PE, children will engage in fitness skills and basketball.
In Spanish, children will learn and practise basic greetings, classroom instructions, pets and some simple grammar in an interactive and authentic way. This supports all language skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing.
In Music, children will have an external music teacher, exploring rhythm, varying beats and differing notes.
