Week 7

Key Stage 1 Nativity: A Miracle in Town

This week, Class 1 and 2 performed our Key Stage 1 Nativity a Miracle in Town. The children told the story of the very first Christmas; the story of a baby boy who was born in Bethlehem, but he was no ordinary baby. His name was Jesus and He was the Son of God.

Well done to all of Key Stage 1 on a beautiful nativity in which the speaking was clear and loud, acting was superb, singing voices sounded angelic and the makaton signs were clear and accurate.

Have a wonderful Christmas and I will see you in 2023 Class 2 heart

Week 6

This week, Class 2 have worked on our Makaton knowledge in order to sign the actions to the songs in our Key Stage 1 Nativity next Tuesday.

We had the help of Mrs Gill to help us ensure we are completing the actions to all of our Christmas songs correctly for our nativity.

We can't wait to perform A Miracle in Town to our school and to see parents next Tuesday for our performance!

Week 3

This week, Class 2 designed and made our own Windmills using card, colouring pencils, scissors, glue and pipe cleaners.

Everyone designed them for a small mouse who needed a house so our windmills have a door and windows, they are also decorated with flowers for the mouse.

Well done Class 2 on designing and making wonderful windmills!

Week 2

Comparing Numbers

This week, we have continued our Addition and Subtraction focus in Maths.

Year 1s worked on identifying and representing numbers using objects and pictorial representations, using the language of: equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least.

Year 2s compared and ordered numbers from 0 up to 100; using <, > and = signs.

We used physical lollipop greater than, less than and equal to symbols to help us complete our classwork this session.

Well done Class 2 Mathmeticians!

W/B: Tuesday 1st October 2022

Week 1

Science Experiment: How to grow a rainbow

This Thursday, Class 2 conducted a Science Experiment involving the scientific process capillary action. This action happens when a liquid moves up through a hollow tube or into a spongy, solid material. It happens when three forces work together: cohesion, adhesion and surface tension.

In the experiment, we used kitchen roll. The fibres in kitchen roll have lots of little holes. Water is absorbed through the kitchen roll because when the first water molecule adheres to it and begins to move upward, it pulls the next water molecule up with it, like a chain.

We cut the kitchen roll into the shape of a rainbow, attached a paperclip to the top of the rainbow and tied a piece of thread to it to hold the rainbow. Then, we added water to two bowls. We held the rainbow with both ends slightly submerged into each bowl of water and watched our rainbows grow.

Well done scientists on a super experiment!

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
