Autumn Term 1

Week 6

Another very busy week in Class 1! As class teacher I would like to say that I am so impressed with all our children in Class 1! We are all doing so well and we have all settled into Class 1 life really well!

In Maths this week we have been learning to recognise numbers 0 - 10 and put them in a number line! We have been introduced to Numberblocks and have been practicing counting. We love our number fun songs!

In Literacy this week we have been learning the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' by Michael Rosen. We have also begun Helicopter stories - some children have been telling Miss Olive or Mrs Cowling their story and we performed them as a class!

Our Collective worship was all about friendship this week. We made something special for a friend. Some of us chose to make cards, paintings, drawings or a friendship bracelet.

We have also been learning how to mix colours using blue, red, yellow, white and black. We have been painting Autumn trees.

Week 5

We have had a very busy this week this week in Class 1! We have had our Dot Day on Tuesday. We read the story The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. We have then all had a go at creating our very own dot! We have also been learning the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle. We have learnt to perform the story and some of us have had a go at creating story maps. In Maths we have been learning our numbers 0 - 5, touch counting and recognising numicon. We have also been learning about Autumn. We went on an Autumn walk.

Week 4

Class 1 have learnt their first Talk for Writing story this week: The Little Red Hen. We have learnt how to perform the story with actions. Miss Olive created a story map of The Little Red Hen to show us how we can use the story map to help us with our performance and remembering the story! Some of us then had a go at creating our own story maps. We even had some children create their own story! One of the children created a story about a Hippo who followed the breadcrumbs before going home to eat some bread. Then Hippo then parachuted away! It has been fantastic to see the children so highly engaged in a story! Watch the slideshow to see all the other activities we have been involved in too!

Week 3

This week we have welcomed our Foundation children into our Class full time! They have had a very busy first full week! We have been getting to know each other by showing everyone our All About Me's! We have also started to learn lots of new songs and poems!

Week 2

This week we have been welcoming our foundation children for their transition week. We are getting to know all of our new friends and our Year 1 children have been showing them the ropes in Class 1. Inbetween transition, our Year 1 children have had their first iPad lesson on Purple Mash. We created our own avatars. Can you guess who is who below?

Week 1

This week we welcomed our Year 1 children back into class 1. We reconnected with our friends and learnt lots of new songs and poems.

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
