The children have been showing each other acts of kindness this week. We have been playing lots of turn-taking games, completing jigsaws together, building with friends and showing others new skills. The Year 1 children have been taking responsibilty for sharing ideas with the younger children and helping them to learn new things

Week 3

Our class book this week: Fly Tiger Fly by Rikin Parekh

Maths: Addition sentences

Geography: We have been learning to say our addresses and talk about our local area. We know that we live in England which is one of the 4 countries that make up the United Kingdom. We are learning a song to help us to remember the countries and the capital cities in the UK.

RE- Getting ready for our new topic next week we talked about waiting. Fred the Frog has been waiting for his birthday and we had a party for him on Friday afternoon! Our Class 5 buddies joined us for singing, dancing, cake and decorating Fred Biscuits

Our new "Prayer Bear" has been home with some of the children and has had a wonderful time. The photos are just precious

Week 2

Our class book this week: After the Fall by Dan Santat.

Maths: Part whole addition 

DT: Windmills. We have started to investigate how to make a strong structure.

Anti-Bullying week- we have been talking about what "Respect" means and how we should treat others as we would like others to treat us. On Odd socks day we designed our own socks and discussed how we can all be friends and are all different.

RE- Hanukkah- We heard the story of the oil in the temple and how Jewish people celebrate Hanukkah. We made our own Menorahs. 

Week 1

We have had a super week and the children have been very busy!

DT: Windmills. The children have been finding out about about different kinds of windmills and have even had a go at building their own in construction with moving sails!

History: We have been learning about Bonfire Night and The Gunpowder Plot.

Computing: Learning to use a keyboard and mouse.
