Summer 1

Week 5: We have come to the end of Summer 1, and also my last half-term here at Sacred Heart. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone, especially the students. This week, we spent the day in York, starting at the National Railway Museum, and ending at The Chocolate Story. They had a blast.

Week 4: To kick off our new topic, Hola Mexico, we were introduced to the Maya during our parent session! Class 5 got messy with sand and PVA glue to create their own stone Hieroglyphs, before learning how to draw their name in the Mayan Language. We now like to think of ourselves as experts.

Week 3: SATs are over! What a week it has been! We couldn't be more proud of the work these guys and gals have put in this year so they deserve some time to themselves! To kick the weekend off we had our celebration fun club - we even brought in the Playstation!

Poetry can be used as a powerful tool to relay important topical or moral messages. Class 5 too the concept of Slam Poetry and applied it to the morals and emotion linked to WW2. Here are some of their powerful performances.

Week 1: Our new RE topic is called Witnesses, which will gradually lead us onto Pentecost. Class 5 explored the meaning of the word witness, before reading a story about a boy names Connor, who had an important choice to make after witnessing an incident. The children 'jumped into' Connor's shoes with some group work, before creating a story board of how the story may have ended.

One family, growing together in love and faith, flourishing in an ever-changing world. We love, we believe, we shine, we achieve.
