Summer Term 1

Week 4 (WC 15.05.23)

This week in our art lesson we have been looking at the oil painting by the artist John Singer Sargent. The children recreated this painting using drama  to experience the human side of the image: being blindfolded, supported by others, led, healed and companionship.

Week 3 (WC 8.5.23)

This week in art we have been looking at art work inspire by the artist Herman Rorschach. The children have created their own symmetrical picture to create an abstract art form. In literacy we have begun writing our own sequel to the story flotsam.

Week 2 (WC 24.04.23)

This week in ukulele we have been  learning to play 'We Will Rock You' by Queen, I think you will agree that they are amazing! In PE we have been continuing to develop our racket skills and learning how to control the ball.

Week 1 (WC 17.04.23)

This week we have begun a new art topic called “Every Picture Tells a Story”. We looked at Banksy's Pigeon Mural and the children considered what message they thought he was trying to convey. We then changed this picture to show the grumpy gang of grey pigeons being kind to the beautiful green migratory swallow.  In literacy we have started a new book called "Flotsam" , by David Wiesner. In the first lesson children found five trays of flotsam that had been swept up on the beach and they had to look through the contents and work out who the items belonged to.
