Class 2

Dear Visitors,

We'd like to warmly welcome you to our Class 2 Page from everyone in Class 2 and Miss Garratt (Class Teacher).

On this page, you will find information and photographs about lots of different activities we will be doing this school year and, you will see us flourish as learners and individuals during our time at St Helen's School.

Our first topic is called...

Memory Box

For information on our topic please look below this entry!

Scroll down to see Class 2 reminders and take a look at Autumn 1 below to

see the first entries on our website page.

We have lots to learn and enjoy this term and we will look forward to updating you on our school work very soon!

From

Miss Garratt (Class Teacher) and everyone in Class 2

Memory Box

Do you remember being small? Being a baby and learning to crawl? Do you remember a favourite toy or a best-loved book?

Look back at family photos of occasions, holidays and even a birthday or two!

Remember a wedding or a christening and find a funny picture of your parents when they were little!

Learn how to write a diary entry of days gone by and find out about days before you were born.

Then at the end of our topic, make a special box to store your special things and in time to come you can discover them again.

Memories are special. Let's make some more together!

Class 2 Reminders

Homework will be sent home every Wednesday.

Homework books need to be given in by Monday at the latest, to be marked.

Spellings will be given out in the children’s spelling and RWI groups on Friday.  The spelling check will be the following Friday.

Reading in Class 2

In Class 2, we work as a whole class in our guided reading sessions to solve VIPERS (vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval, and sequencing questions) on our class text.

We aim to complete reading in small groups with a teacher once a week and complete individual readers once a week.

Reading books will be changed every week when the children have read with a member of staff also, when they have finished their book and would like to choose another or if they are not enjoying their book.

All of the children in class are assessed and we match our reading books with their reading ability. If we feel they have progressed before our next assessment we will move them on to continue their progress.

Please make sure you read daily at home!

If you read three times a week and it is written in your reading journal, you will get 10 credits on our reward chart.
