Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School

Summer 1

Every week our page will be updated with all the things we have been busy with in school. Did you see all the amazing things we did in Spring 2?

A few points to note this half term.... (updated information in bold)

  • PE will be every Tuesday afternoon for all C2 children. Full weather appropriate PE kit including trainers needed. Please no earrings on this day.
  • All items of clothing and belongings must have names on so we can help locate them if they are lost.
  • Reading books must be in school every day. We encourage children to read at least three times a week at home. They will be awarded extra credits if there are three adult signatures in their diary each week.
  • Reading books are linked to their Read Write Inc group in school unless they have completed the  program and then they will have a book suited to their individual need.
  • The children will continue to be set some homework tasks every Wednesday which will support their learning in school. We will put a sticker in their homework books if it is Purple Mash homework that week.
  • Children need to bring a water bottle to school each day. Water only please.
  • Check the class page each week, this can be saved as a shortcut on phones and tablets for easy access. Children really do enjoy talking about the pictures and videos we upload each week.
  • If you require any additional support with anything we do in class please do come and see us.

Class 2- Summer 1- Medium Term Plan

wk6 - w/c 22nd May 2023

Computing and Music

In music this half term, we have been listening to 'The Dragon Song' by Joanna Mangona and Pete Readman which tells the story of Lesley the Dragon who flies around the world in search of friendship.  We have used this song as inspiration to design and compose our own piece of digital music in computing.  First we designed our composition by considering the instruments and sound effects that would best represent a dragon.  We then used our plans to compose and create the song on '2 Sequence'.  We even recorded and uploaded our own sound effects to add to our composition.  It was a very noisy lesson but pretty fun!!

Wk 5 w/c 15.5.23

This week we will be participating in mental health week. Each day we will be looking at a different feeling or emotion and exploring what this means to us and how we can support others.

Today we looked at gratitude and explored the feeling of being grateful. The children were able to share all the things they were grateful for. I encouraged the children to draw a gratitude garden and to think about the little things in life they should and can be grateful for.

heartSending lots of love for our wounded soldier!heart

All the school and especially class 2 are thinking of our brave friend.  We wish him lots of love and can't wait to see him soon.

This week our year 2 children will be sitting their SATS. We like to keep this very low key and tell the children they will be completing some quizzes that will show off all their learning. We know they are going to do their absolute best!

Unfortunately the video size was too large to upload (and Mrs Levick's IT skills don't stretch to video editing!laugh) so we have screen shot the video.  His passion and voice is not captured in the images but trust us....it was fantastic!

Our Class 2 Coronation Picnic Party

We have really enjoyed our coronation class picnic today.  We all had our lunch on picnic rugs in the sunshine.  There were cupcakes, buns, crisps, drinks, sandwiches and all sorts of yummy treats.  After our lunch, we played festive coronation games including 'Pin the Crown on the King' and 'Kings in the Corners'.  We had such a great time!

Seaside Landscape Art

We have learnt about composition and used a ruler to draw the horizon.  We then designed our own seaside landscape and used cut out seaside objects to try in different locations to arrange the best composition.
