Week 6 W/C 11/12/23

On Tuesday our children put on the most magnificent performance of 'The Nativity'. The children sang their hearts out for a packed audience and we are so immensely proud of them all heart

On Wednesday we enjoyed Christmas dinner together.

On Thursday it was our Christmas Fayre and we even had a visit from Santa!!!

We have been busy making Christmas cards, calendars and decorations all week and have retold the story of The First Christmas. Father Declan came to school on Friday for an Advent liturgy.

Week 5 WC 4/12/2023

This week we have been rehearsing our Nativity each day and we can't wait to perform for our grown ups next week!

On Friday we had our first Christmas Jumper Day and had our photos taken too smiley

In Maths we have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes and investigating how they can fit together or stack up on top of each other. We have found so many shapes around school and at home. Sing our Shape Song together by clicking the link below.

We have read and watched "Stick Man" (One of Mrs Reynolds' favourites). We loved finding the rhymes and joining in with re-telling the story together.

Week 4 WC 27/11/2023

We had our first Parent Topic Session this week and had a marvelous turn out- thank you! Our DT topic this term is structures. The children have been exploring modelling and joining techniques. The session was to make a chair for Baby Bear which was strong and stable enough to hold a teddy bear. There were some amazing ideas and both children and adults worked hard to plan, design, create, decorate and test their chair.

Week 3 WC 20/11/2023

This week we have been learning to identify and write capital letters. Y1 have been spotting proper nouns which have capital letters eg. our names, days of the week, months of the year and place names. We sing songs every morning to learn the days and months- follow the links below.

It is Road Safety Week so we have been learning how to always be safe when near or crossing a road.

Week 2 WC 13/11/23

This week is Anti-Bullying Week. On Monday it was Odd Socks Day. We had our 1st "Buddy Time" with Class 5. The children were wonderful with each other and it was a pleasure to watch our older children working alongside our Class 1 children. They designed their own odd socks together and we talked about the importance of talking to someone if somebody is making you feel upset or worried.

On Wednesday it was "Positive Noticing Day" and in Class 1 we were looking out for people doing kind things, using kind words and generally showing kindness towards other children.

On Friday Class 1 and Nursery had their World Nursery Rhyme Week performance. WOW!!!!! They were amazing!!! We were hugely impressed with and so proud of the children for learning so many words for rhymes, songs and poems and then performing for so many people. We have already collected in a number of very generous donations from families and friends- THANK YOU.

Week 1 WC 6/11/23

We have had a super first week back with the children eager to talk about Bonfire Night and Firework Fun!

We have talked about Remembrance Day and the significance of the poppy. We have shared our memories of people who are important to us who are sadly no longer with us and why we should always talk about and remember them.

We can't wait to perform our songs and rhymes for our parents next weeksmiley
